RE: Warrick Dunn stopped by police because he fit the profile of a criminal
Seems like the cop would have recognized him as being Warrick Dunn or read the license and been like "oh I'm sorry Mr Dunn, thinks for loving my city....have a good day sir"

RE: Warrick Dunn stopped by police because he fit the profile of a criminal
Regulation tint in GA is no more than 32%. Most of us drive around with between 25-50% tint. Some have around 65%+, which is really dark. If you're driving right next to someone and you still can't see them, then they have well over 32% and the police can pull them over and ticket them for it. Most of the time the police don't mess with it though. But occasionally around the end of the annual quarter, when police are pressured to hit their quota's for the quarter, they'll use it as an excuse to pull people over.
Especially if they see an african-american driving a $120 thousand dollar car with really dark windows (meaning the likely saw who was driving from the front and "profiled"). Don't be so naive to think that there aren't shit tons of african-american drug dealers driving around in expensive cars with dark tint. It's a "reasonable" criteria for police to be suspicious about. As much as it may offend some of you, you're just going to have to get over it. And in this case, it's obvious they could have ticketed him and didn't. And I have no problem with them asking him if they can search his vehicle. If he's got nothing to hide, it shouldn't matter. They're just trying to do their job. If I get pulled over and they ask to search mine, I know I don't care because I know there's nothing to find. These police catch people with drugs in their cars every day, some of them are dealers who sell their shit to kids and yes, most of them are african-american in Atlanta. And that's not racist, that's just reality, unfortunately. |

They used the tint as an excuse to pull someone over to meet end of quarter quota as someone mentioned earlier. This has nothing to do with drugs, profiling as Beef mentioned or anything similar. This has to do with quota. A police officer with the city of Atlanta told me this; some guy who I went to high school with. The only profiling may stem from the fact that they recognized him as an athlete. Athletes are 'profiled' as having dibbled and dabbled in drugs and such. All in all though, Atlanta is a great city and I believe we have a fairly excellent police department compared to other large cities. "Treat others the way you want to be treated" |

My best friend, who was an undercover narcotics officer for Atlanta PD for 18 years, is starting his 4th year of a 5 year prison sentence. Yes, he was a decorated police officer in Atlanta and yes he is in jail because of the bullshit "quota" system that Atlanta PD has. The beauracrats that run Atlanta PD are pieces of shit. They DO force their officers to profile like crazy and if they don't make a certain number of busts or write a certain number of tickets, they will eventually get blackballed or lose their jobs. The officers aren't necessarily the problem, it's the management. |

No way did he goto jail for 5 years because of failing to meet quotas. Guy clearly got caught doing something illegal. Not trying to bash on him or you, but that probably wasn't a management issue.
