Some times a young guy just makes a dumb mistake... Also like one of out head scouts said... If you have a strong house... He can keep that edgy guy under control. Ha I remember that bit. Although I thought TD said that growing up, that was one of the things he was taught and that he learned himself out of that way of thinking. That a tattoo on a player didn't instantly mean a gang affiliation? One other thing is, it reminded me of how much I dislike Mike Lombardi. |

RE: WAR ROOM
"How close TD and Coach Smith is (working together) .. They are truly eye to eye on the moves we make"
This ain't the best thing. |

RE: WAR ROOM
I remember on the other board a new poster came on asking about Justin Houston. He said he went to to school with a family member of the coaching staff(might have been BVG) and the coaching staff was all about Houston and really wanted to draft him. That was pretty early on in the draft process. The guy sounded legit, but you never know so I wasn't sure if it was true or not. I always felt like it was though for some reason and figured as soon as he tested positive he was crossed of the list for the Falcons.
Did the book say why TD did not draft him? Could it have been because he tested positive for weed or was it because he got drafted before TD could get him? I know he dropped way back, but I can't remember when he got drafted. Obviously we didn't have many draft picks after the trade so I wonder if TD would have taken him if we didn't trade up for Julio. |

"With sixteen picks to go before the Falcons’ selection, Dimitroff leaves the room to watch film with Vital, Les Snead, and Dave Caldwell. They return when they’re twelve picks away. Dimitroff provided a clue about what he was thinking earlier when he called to scold Pioli for pick 70, which Kansas City used to take linebacker Justin Houston of Georgia. “You told me you weren’t going to pick him,” Dimitroff says. “We wanted him.” Pioli knows he’s halfway joking. If Kansas City hadn’t taken the pass-rushing Houston, some other team would have, long before Dimitroff and the Falcons got a chance."

RE: WAR ROOM
Awesome Jbo...thanks.
I was really done with TD when we drafted Jerry over Matthews. Any word on how that figured out? Also I really hate, "He doesn't fit our scheme." cause I say in return, "Make him fit!" |

I will say this about Clay Matthews.. I liked him coming out of college but he was the definition of a PURE Potential draft pick.. He didnt start at USC and finally saw the field his senior season (and he only had 4.5 sacks as a backup) .. I'm not making an excuse for TD... I'm making an excuse for 25 teams and i liked Clay Matthews.... We brought him in for a visit and like you said.. They felt he didnt fit our scheme at the time.. I get he doesnt fit our scheme.. We ask our LB's to cover mostly but im sure they would find a way to use him in our scheme. ![]()
