Tony Gonzalez
The numbers on Tony Gonzalez are absolutely mind blowing. He's played in every game since 1997 expect for 2. Yep. Tony Gonzalez has missed just 2 games in his NFL career. 1 in 1999 and 1 in 2006. That's a testament to the way he takes care of his body. But he's the numbers.

247 G, 1,210 REC, 13,955 YDS (11.5), 101 TD

He ranks 2nd in NFL history in receptions. He ranks 8th in NFL history in receiving yards. He ranks 6th in NFL history in receiving touchdowns. And this coming from a tight end. That's just insane.

RE: Tony Gonzalez
A lot of what Tony accomplished today with his 2 touchdowns has gone unnoticed because of the loss I think. Make no mistake about it, he accomplished something great today. Best tight end in the history of the NFL without a doubt in my mind.

You can make a real case that Tony Gonzalez is quite possibly the 2nd best receiver in NFL history.

Here's a post in this thread over on AFMB.

"I dont think the greatest TE in football history should have to get stuck with middling talent and lack of effort that we constantly trot onto the field..."

I'd say it's best to avoid that place for a couple days...

[Image: 2menybt.jpg] Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.

Tony has been so great the years he's been here and I'm just stunned he dropped that 4th down pass.

RE: Tony Gonzalez
Yeah you won't see him miss another ball like that. Overall I'm impressed with the offenses performance, I know Roddy had a wide open opportunity to walk won on. But it looks like he lost that ball after the defender engaged him. I'm not sure how a pi was t called on that. Ball is in the air the receiver has position you can't simply run into him whilst not looking at the ball to take him off the spot.

There was a pi in my opinion on Tony by Harper again not watching the ball and pulling the hands down before the receiver has made contact. Bad no call.

All that being said despite our deficiencies in key areas and what was by this new teams terms vanilla play calling on both sides of the ball I'm not disheartened. In fact I am happy. 2 teams played. One team used everything they had the other never looked that desperate. And the game was still close. Further to this and more directly in relation to Atlanta. It's been a long time since we have played them and felt like our team wasn't using all they had to win.
