One more thing, I'm not even sure if he wants to work in NFL.

I totally agree that it's stupid but this regime and Blank are too image-conscious to hire him. He'd be an awesome OC though.

Friedgen had lost quite a bit of weight. I haven't seen him lately though.

Well he lives in Atlanta and he wants to coach, so I can't imagine a more perfect fit.

Well....maybe Paul Johnson's job.

Friedgen is the one hire at OC that would get me really excited about next year. He got Stan Humphries to the Super Bowl, for crying out loud. His offense has been dynamic everywhere he's been, and he's never had the tools at his dispersal he would have with the Falcons.

Can someone fill me(and others I bet) about this guy? Creative OC? Knows how to use his weapons?

[Image: 2menybt.jpg] Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.

Yep and he has a creative balanced attack too, perfect fit if you ask me.

Friedgen was the OC for Bobby Ross at Maryland. Developed guys like Boomer Esiason and Frank Riech.

Then he went with Ross to GT and helped turn an awful GT team into a national championship squad, and nobody could stop the GT offense that year. He put 45 points on Nebraska when teams didn't do that to Nebraska, and he did it with a squad full of guys that couldn't have gotten a scholarship to Nebraska.

Then Friedgen went to SD as OC with Ross, and helped the Chargers make the Super Bowl with Stan Humphries as QB.

Then he came back to Tech to be the OC for George O'Leary, and made a guy who nobody wanted to let play QB, Joe Hamilton, into a Heisman trophy candidate.

Then he turned George Godsey, a guy whose arm makes Matt Ryan's look like a cannon, into a complete stud.

Then he went to Maryland as head coach, won the ACC in his first season and went to the Orange Bowl.

Then he got fired after winning coach of the last year when his team went 9-4.

They went 2-10 this year. Probably a little bit of regret on Maryland's part there.

That's about it.

And....he taught Bill O'Brien everything he knows. Bill O'Brien currently calls plays for the New England Patriots, but he'll be Penn State's coach after the season.

One of the most creative offensive football minds out there. Was OC for Georgia Tech's 1990 national championship team under Bobby Ross. Followed Ross to the Chargers, where he took a team with limited weapons (Humphries, Natron Means, Tony Martin) to the Super Bowl. Some of his best work was as OC for Tech in the late 90's under George O'Leary. His offenses with Joe Hamilton were the best in the country, and were regularly lauded as "unstoppable." His first year as head coach at Maryland, he took a moribund team and one the ACC and finished with a top-10 ranking. Generally speaking, he's a master at creating mismatches.

Pretty good look right there.
