Falcons This off season seems like only plan was upgrade rb

RE: This off season seems like only plan was upgrade rb
I am sure that the Falcons have at least two versions of the Ryan extension drafted and ready to go. Which one gets used depends on how much additional cap space is going to be needing this year. That won't be clear until the final FA acquisitions start sorting themselves out. Clearly the forthcoming FA acquisitions will drive the extension.

While the Falcons are loading up for 2013/14 super bowl runs, they do not have to completely mortgage the future to be competitive although I think that TD is willing to lean in that direction to maximize the chances of getting a Lombari. Meanwhile it is worth noting that the Falcons are, as of this moment, the oldest roster in the NFL. Of course Gonzo is a big part of that statistic and he is going to be out soon enough, but it does point to the fact that the Falcons have to maximize their picks the next couple of years in order to stay competitive for more than the next 2 years.

Couple tidbits the 790 guys were talking about on the radio this morning.

The Falcons liked Osi enough to do a full physical on him, which is a big deal. Apparently we are ready to make an offer to Osi if the physical comes back clean.

On a side note, I didn't know this, but Osi already has a home here in Sandy Springs. It was featured on Cribs last year.

Abe and Walker were both ineffective. He'll, Walker was rarely used. Not a big deal.

Your #1 issue is that you think we all are sitting here happy with the shape if the current D. None of us are. But we have yet to ever have a decent front four in years. Losing a cripple vet and someone who doesn't want to be a Falcon anymore won't hurt us.

The only gaping hole we have is our DL. The offense is solid. SJ is good for at least two years. The DB's are manageable. The issue has and remains the lines. It will be fixed.

Remember 3-13? Petrino? We were in shambles. To turn a franchise around so quickly is an impressive feat. No, we haven't won many playoff games, but we also know that the #1 issue then was predictability from our coordinators and Turner not being effective on short downs.

We aren't gonna waste our future years on Elvis or any other free agents. We have a good thing going and we now have a roster where everyone on it is paid the correct amount. We dumped those overpaid and look what we still have, a solid football team with room to work on solidifying the defense in a month.

so why not move on now. Why sign a 30 year old rb for 1 or 2 seasons of production when we could have drafted a young rb to groom into future rb. Like Lacy or Taylor etc etc and got 5 years of production at cheaper rate and less carries

True.

No it's not truth. Gonzo is golden. He is a player that is solid and provides GUARANTEED production.

Rookies do not.

They played on a defense that was ineffective come play-off time, but
they weren't ineffective themselves.

One does not preclude the other. People forget that. Let's wait until the season starts to complain about the moves our front office made... you know... after they actually make them.

Doesn't this guy have a history of coming in behind Swift posts saying he agrees? Odd.
