This needs to be pointed out
So far in this young season, our running game has not been there. Yes, Turner is still averaging 5.6 ypa, but that is actually heavily skewed by 2 carries. Take away the 53 yarder against Chicago and the 61 yarder against Philadelphia and he's averaging only 3 ypa.
I realize this can be partially put on the o-line, today especially he didn't have any holes. And really, it's still true that our offense offense runs through Turner. I think he really should be getting at least 15 touches a game. Right now, Turner is on pace for 224 carries and that isn't nearly good enough. Sad to say, we need Turner to be getting closer to 275-300 carries. The Man In Black

RE: This needs to be pointed out
Yeah phrase "at times". If we can't get a consistent run from him fuck it move him down a roster or reduce the amount of time he's on the field and give it to Quizz. This is a business, and we're apparently in it to win.
Shoot I honestly wouldn't mind if he was moved to just goal line, and 4th and ONLY 1. Sorry not 4th and < 2. I do give him major kudos for helping this team come back from the ashes, but over the last few years he's just lost effectiveness. Yeah he gets over 1000 yards, but he's running it like 300+ carries. Of course if you run it over 300 times you'll get those big runs, basic statistics. Its time to change how we look at our offense. We can't have a slow runner and "explosive" receivers. We need to take a page from Sean Payton and develop the offense AROUND Matty, not Turner. -ROCK CHALK!!! |

RE: This needs to be pointed out
When the holes are there and no defenders in the backfield he does well, when there are no holes or he is hit the backfield he doesn't. You can trace 90% of his struggles to the O-line, if not more.
Our whole offense is being derailed by the struggles of the O-line. We are going to HAVE to go back to dink and dunk to protect the line, that is just all there is too it. Ignorance can be educated.....Stupidity is to the bone. |

RE: This needs to be pointed out
plain and simple our OLine sucks. Losing harvey dahl should NOT have made that much of a difference, the thing is as a unit they were a little above average, now one piece of the unit is new, one piece is just back from injury, and if we don't fix it pretty damn quick, we'll be drafting a new QB because they're gonna get the one we have now killed
Chew on THAT, Petunia!

No offseason to gel has really affected us more than I thought it would.

You can't really take away the big gains. Those were perfectly executed runs. Take away the handful of big passes too. And the takaways and this teams is 0-3.

And heck, the Packers more or less avoided the offseason altogether. Turner is fine, but I can't the same for our O Line. |

RE: This needs to be pointed out
The fact is we have demonstrated in the past that we can win even if Turner isn't playing well. It goes back to the play calling. Turner isn't going to be much help is we are constantly playing with double digit deficits.
We need to become a no-huddle offense, and try to install a few more plays to get Qui22 and Turner more involved in it. I realize our OL is an issue, but our OC is THE ISSUE. |

RE: This needs to be pointed out
Any RB in the league can do what turner has done. Hell, those 2 big runs would be TD's for most RB's. We need a Home Run threat in the backfield period, dot.
