The thing about Dimitroff and the organization is...
They are too unpredictable you never know what the hell is coming next. For instance every talking head would have had you believe that the Falcons would have been big players in freeagency this year especially with no first or fourth round picks. Then they said of the big three freeagents Curtis was the most likely to come back because he had a good combination of age and pricetag. Abraham was supposedly the most likely to leave. The offensive line was so bad we had to do something. There were also going to be some heads rolling with the "no sacred cows" remark. Last years draft everyone knew we were going to go DE early (local radio shows had most of the top ranked DE on before the draft) and he jumps up to get Julio. Even from the beginning Crump, Dunn, and Deangelo gone and he brings in LT's back-up and a kid from BC.
You look back and some of the moves you thought were safe logical moves at the time moving up for Baker an OT to protect your QB or Signing the #2 ranked freeagent DE (Edwards) or the #1 ranked freeagent CB (Dunta Robinson) and these are his biggest question marks. So I look at him resigning Decoud and Bierman and guys like Manuwai and Lofa and think WTF man there are offensive linemen out there that we could use. But then in my mind I think this dude has a plan and some of his most unpopular moves have been his best ones. Like sticking with the short fiery CB out of Shippensburg or drafting the kid out of BC, or giving guys like Dahl a shot. Still it sucks as a fan to see the saints address there run defense ( line and LB) the bucs address there offense (line and receiver) and we just sit and hope that the Coordinators can come in and take this group to the next level. Its like everyone is getting shiny new toys for christmas and we got the same toys we already had and everyone wants us to believe they will be better than ever. But in TD we trust. ![]()

RE: The thing about Dimitroff and the organization is...
I don't know if I said it here or on one the Falcon blogs I visit but I wish there were more information leaks coming out of our front office, just so we as fans would know at least partially know what's going through their heads.
For Example: we din't hear a peep about the possible Julio trade until the night before the draft even though TD had been talking to other GMs for over a month before. Now if it was almost any other team I bet we catch wind of it 2 week (at least) earlier.

The Bucs have shown over the past four years that they have trouble developing talent. Maybe a new coach will change that but you can't expect much of a turn around with their talent level.
The Saints have Lofton sure, but like they used to do to us on third down we need to throw over the middle...first down. Remember that last game against the Saints? They converted nearly every third down in that game. We looked atrocious. Now we share the wealth. |

I used to think it was the "Patriot way" but they are not that tight lipped well at least not anymore. Everyone this year knew they were going to sign Brandon Lloyd this season at was close to the only sure thing there was in this years freeagency. The problem may be with the AJC and D.led a good reporter is only as good as his sources. I do not think D.led has any insiders. It would be nice to get a nugget every now and then though. ![]()

Mike williams was a borderline probowler as a rookie and you are giving his 1st round QB a new weapon(VJ) and a suit of armor(Nicks). They have potential and draft picks. Now it would also be kind of Homer of us to think that our New coordinators can do so much with our guys while there "new" coordinators cannot do anything with there guys. As for the Saints I think lofton fits Spags defense. He is a Jim Johnson disciple, he wants a jeremiah trotter type he is a thumper who can clean up the run and help them be more aggressive. ![]()

Dont get caught up in draft pick numbers they don't really mean anything, just that some people make more money than others. Developing talent is more than just drafting high. Don't get too excited about Vincent Jackson joining the Bucs. Freeman has a long way to go to get good again. Our team has infinitely more talented than the Bucs. Our new coordinators will succeed because of this and because our organization is better run. If you dont think so note the collapse they had last year and how our team keeps it together despite problems. I know you want to sound more impartial but get real, the Bucs we saw last year were the real deal, they over performed two years ago. They have a big climb. Spags had a good defense in New York but in St. Louis he couldn't put it together. Mike Smith and BVG turned a middling defense into a solid though not perfect one for a few years. They improved every year. The Saints could be without numerous defensive players for a long time. Even if most are banned for four games running a second or third string defense for the first 4 games of the year could put them in a deep hole they might not be able to climb out. Come on enjoy the collpase of these two teams. Then sit back and watch the sophomore slump overtake young Mr. Newton. There has never been a better chance for the Falcons to swoop in and take this division and go deep into the playoffs. |

I really want too but man I got my season tickets in 08 I have seen a team blow away expectations in this division. But back on topic his move today with McClure we see another example of TD's against the grain decision. Todds back-up saw a lot of action this season and a lot of people were ready to hand him the reigns. Sooner or later Matt is going to have to form a relationship with a new center right? I am glad to see the guy back though he should retire a bird maybe we can get him in a probowl this year. ![]()
