Falcons The safety that magically was taken away

The safety that magically was taken away
I've seen some horseshit calls before, but that was the most ridiculous flag pickup by a ref I have ever seen.

I'm not gonna harp on the loss. We lost. It happened. But what I cannot get over was how flagrant some of the refs decisions were. If I'm Mike Smith, I take that straight to Goodell for review. Then I let my guys know that the next time we face the Saints, we show up and play smash mouth football and just annihilate the Saints and their homer refs.

I'm sure we are gonna hear something this week about that situation. The only reason the ref decided what he did was to allow Brees to keep the ball in Brees's hands to get that record. That was clearly NOT a screen play.

well it was 4th down so it wasn't so Brees would get the ball back...but it was comically bad. I'm not even one to complain about refereeing, but a lot of calls were hilariously bad. but whatever...

Yea.. we loss the game.. I will say that but even Gruden was saying their was some suspect calls... Even Gruden said "If you are going to call that call on the falcons (loftons big hit) you have to call that on the saints"

Yup, a lot of terrible calls. A few plays could've changed the complexion of the game (punt for them, we get the ball back when it was still close).

RE: The safety that magically was taken away
I'm not one to complain about what calls are, because the overall picture shows that we would lose even if the calls help us the entire game. However, something so suspect in that particular call...that was ridiculous.

Yes, the play where Kelley looked like he was gonna be in a wheelchair as well. I can see how they let it slide, cuz it was really a clean hit, but it could have paralyzed him.

But back to the safety, if you are the ref, how do you provide enough evidence to your claim that there wasn't holding in the endzone.

That was the most biased officiating ie ever seen. That blown offsides was ridiculous. That said Mike Smith needs to teach this pussy team how to take a punch in the mouth. Matt Ryan is the only player that keeps getting us back in the game and his OL, receivers, and D fail him. Shameful.

but wait, you mean that there is no holding on a screen play? what the fuck? holding is holding regardless of what play is called, isn't it?

unlike the first time we played them, they beat our asses in this game. we gave them the first game, but they just flat out beat our sorry fucking pussy asses this game. anyone who thinks the team that played tonight is going to be anything other than one and done AGAIN in the playoffs is delusional. defense (makes me laugh out loud to call what we played tonight defense, but it has to be described somehow) as we played tonight can not and will not put us in the win column against a team with a winning record. tell me again how many GOOD teams we've beat this year??????

one and done again. that's how i see it. we better use what draft picks we have on OLINE and DB's, and hope to god we can pick up a player that doesn't get hurt so easily..... or next season won't be any different than this season

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

Even if that is a rule (and I've NEVER heard that before), the thing that really gets me is this -- I've never heard of a QB screen.

So lets assume there is some rule that says "it's not holding to shed a defender on a screen play." Why does that rule continue to apply when the QB tucks it and runs?

You also can't hit the QB helmet to helmet -- unless he takes off running.

Just a really, really stupid justification for picking up the flag.

The refs sucked a huge amount of cock tonight, but what's new. I don't think it's saints bias, I just think they are largely incompetent league wide. Technology could help them out but the NFL won't do it.
