The Dominator is #2 for sure
Davis has been a revelation all preseason but here is why he is a lock for the #2 QB position this season. In his post game interview Davis revealed this his TD pass happened because he noticed the press defense on Toone and checked into the vertical route. He friggin' called the play! Compare that to Redman calling a timeout when he saw a defensive setup that he didn't like.
Once this game film gets reviewed it is all over. Davis is playing the game instead of letting the game play him. Redman may have been an adequate steward when running a Mularkey style offense but he is in over his head in DK's offense. He literally cannot do the job. He will certainly not be trusted to be the #2 QB. By contrast, Davis is now a lock to make the 53. It would be too dangerous to put him on the practice squad after his performance this preseason. The only question now is will Redman stick as a #3 QB. My guess is that TD will be given the green light to scour the wires for a QB to replace Redman. Even if TD doesn't make that happen, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the coaching staff decide to go with 2 QBs and use the extra roster spot for some other position. |

RE: The Dominator is #2 for sure
I'm just wondering how he went undrafted! I still think the staff will keep Redman as #2 based on experience alone. Davis would never make it to the practice squad, he would have to clear waivers first and that's not gonna happen.
Found this: For the 2011 season Davis was named to the Manning Award, Maxwell Award, and Davey O'Brien Award watch lists. On October 22, 2011 the East Carolina quarterback did not throw an incomplete pass in the first half of the Pirates 38-35 victory over the Navy Midshipmen. This gave Davis the NCAA record for most consecutive completions in one game held by Tee Martin of Tennessee in 1998. Combining the 10 consecutive completions from the ECU's previous game against Memphis, his 36 consecutive passes over two games eclipsed the previous overall consecutive completion record of 26 held by Aaron Rodgers of Cal in 2004. |
