Falcons have no depth and figure in rookie pool we are just bout done in free agency.

Falcons sit at 7.2 under cap with 3-4 in pool for rookies and 11 picks

Where are you getting this from? They had Rich McKay on 790 just last week explaining how he is in charge of the cap numbers.

Not that this even matters. The cap has been worked perfectly. If it were TD, I'd be giving him huge praise.

Only YOU think that the cap has not been worked well.

Ray Edwards wasn't supposed to happen like it did. Other than that though, there's not much bad going on with our team salary. You just think we should have millions to sign every top FA in existence every year and as usual, that's completely unrealistic.

Again you are sitting here on the sidelines with a fraction of the information needed to do this job and acting like you are correct and the professionals are wrong.

They could build monuments to your egocentric self-righteousness.

It's been Nick Polk and TD been handling the cap

The Atlanta Falcons have had to steadily reshuffle their front office over the past two years as Les Snead and Dave Caldwell moved onto jobs elsewhere as general managers.

The shuffling continued Thursday with another promotion from inside. Nick Polk was named director of football operations after spending the past five years as the team’s director of football administration.

Polk might not be a name known to the average fan, but he’s been an important part of the front office and his role just got bigger. Polk has worked closely with general manager Thomas Dimitroff on contract proposals, negotiations and management with the salary cap.

“Nick does a very good job of managing our salary cap,” Dimitroff said. “His communication regarding our cap situation has paid dividends over the last five years and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our organization.”

They could easily give him a 6 year deal with $30M guaranteed and get his hit down to $5M (12-7=5, duh). But I don't think it'll be that drastic. I think he could free up closer to $5M, maybe $6M.

Some places had it 10 million even SPORTS TRAC had it 10 million at one point. They figured the 2 million signing bonus into the last season instead of first. Even rotoworld has it had 10 million still. Even at 12 million and if you look at what Flacco cap hit was and that is a base salary of 1 million Flacco cap hit is 6.9 million so that would be 5 million saving if Ryan cap hit is truly 12 million .

Plus it also hurts the falcons in couple of years since we are lowering Ryan base salary in 3 years its going to sky rocket and hurt Falcons. Ryan cap should be evenly spread out. You still have to factor in we have to give Julio a big contract

Chances are Ryan deal wont get done to after season

If not, then so be it. We're still $7.3M under at this moment and have room for maybe 1 FA and our rookies. We could get Dansby in here on only a $3M cap hit.

and then our defense is counting on rookie at 30 and Massaquoi and Matthews to make a impact and Biermann to produce more then 4 sacks

Its hard to imagine a team with Super Bowl aspirations have a defensive line like that on paper. I also like Mass but he still a project

Well, I already covered my rationale on this. If the defense as a whole can put up the same numbers or better, we are way ahead of last year with just the addition of SJax, IMO.

Mass and Matthews deserve a shot. And we have 11 picks to try and find a pass rusher who can give us some sacks. Maybe Mass ends up being a beast and puts up a huge number. He's got the tools. Fast, great size. Or maybe a rookie comes in and pulls an Aldon Smith.

Either way, younger more athletic and less predictable is also a good enhancement that would help. Tie in the fact that opposing teams should be throwing a lot trying to play catch up and we have another distinct advantage.

I don't believe Ryan is gonna restructure this year.
Not a big deal really. Who else do we need to get?
Better to wait on next year.

RE: Steven Jackson is a Falcon
Swift, if we have no more cap room, why is Osi Umenyiora in today for an official visit, and taking a physical?

You really keep on proving you are talking out your ass, and have no clue on the real cap situation. It's nothing to be ashamed of, though... most of us are clueless on the cap, too. We just don't act like we know everything, and use it to dog our front office.

Relax and let the professionals keep making this franchise and its front office one of the greatest in the NFL.

RE: Steven Jackson is a Falcon
I keep wondering why NFL front offices aren't calling Swift for front office jobs. He obviously knows more about the cap and how to run an organization than any of them.
