While I think Jackson has more left in the tank, I think the main component he brings is that ability to make things happen while coming out of the back field.

All I have running through my head right now is a formation with Roddy spread wide to the left, Julio wide to the Right, Tony in the slot, Matt in the shotgun with Quizz and Jackson on either side. Talk about pick your poison.

Same here. I just can't get excited about this move. If it was 2 years ago I would be thrilled. But Jackson is fixin to turn 30. I just can't get excited about a 30 year old running back.

$4 million guaranteed, 3 year, $12 million deal.

Better? Because I think we aren't through in FA. Not by a damn sight.

I care if it was for peanuts. It's just not a move I'm excited about. I'm going to have to see that Steven Jackson can still bring it before I get excited about this move. Like I said if it were 2 years ago I would be jumping for joy. But not now. Maybe the Falcons will actually have big enough leads to not blow in the playoffs. One day TD will get around to signing a defensive player.

Only about a $1.5M hit to this year's cap. Freakin amazing work by TD.

And Swift probably still thinks he sux.

Stop acting like the guy does not try and make move to improve very facet of this team. He doesn't sit there and get paid to put this team in a position to win by picking his nose.

If we sign a defensive player it will be a guy who fits what Nolan wants. Also they'll likely be young as we are looking to get younger in spots on defense whilst remaining competitive. If welcome out and draft 3 defensive players with our first picks I'd be happy as that is a good future nucleus to have around.

Remember that signing players is as much about managing your roster and depth chart as it is about making acquisitions. You have no idea what our depth chart actually looks like by structure by scheme and where the actual gaps are. Bombing money into a slew of free agent players will not help us.

How about letting more than 3 days pass before acting like nothing is being done improve the team.

RE: Steven Jackson is a Falcon
This move makes Quizz a more dangerous player. With a proven RB this year and Gonzo coming back, we have an offense that defenses will cry about.

This also means that our O is solid. We have no obvious holes anywhere.

The only weakness on the O now is the line. So we can continue to shore that up.

This draft is gonna be all defense and maybe a TE. From what I see, we have this year with Gonzo and really he will be our only big loss the season after. So that leaves this and the next drafts all about getting solid players that don't have to be fully relied upon. We are talking about 6-7 starters to replace some current players that will want bigger contracts.

It's exciting to be a Falcon fan today!

I just want the defense fixed. Ever since TD has been here his focus has been 65/35 in favor of the offense. The Falcons offense has been great every year. But the Falcons still haven't won the Super Bowl because TD has yet to put a Super Bowl winning defense on the field and I for one am sick of it.

Probably? I don't think there's much doubt.

Personally I'm ecstatic. Steven Jackson has been my favorite back to watch.

I know all the risks etc, but sometimes you gotta roll the dice. I look at it very simply, as of right now the Falcons are better with him than without him. Same for Gonzales. I'll let TD worry about the GM stuff. Anyone who is all worried now and is wringing their hands in a state of worry just needs to go change the tampon and get on board.
