Steelers seem impressed by the offense
Quote:Busy half chasing Atlanta receivers gives Pittsburgh defense an eyeful Think we got a little pass happy but it was good work for the guys. When you spread a team out we should have had more oppuurtunities for draws and scrreens earlier. It looked like there were some cleet issues we had some key slips we need to be wary of soldier field condition game 1. ![]()

RE: Steelers seem impressed by the offense
that's the way you beat tough defenses like the steelers and ravens.

RE: Steelers seem impressed by the offense
This is most interesting to me:
"The Falcons had 266 yards in the half, nearly matching the 276 yards the Steelers gave up in an entire game in 2010."

RE: Steelers seem impressed by the offense
From the article:
Atlanta did most of its damage through the air, with Ryan expertly picking his way down the field by spreading the ball around. Roddy White, rookie Julio Jones, Harry Douglas and tight end Tony Gonzalez all finished with at least three receptions. I just can't agree with this. 22 of 42, 52% completion rate, 5.2 YPA, 220 total passing yards, 65.6 passer rating - this doesn't say expert. I don't blame Ryan though. He threw some darts and his long ball to Jones in the end zone was perfect, but for every good ball I saw an equally bad one. However, I can only think of three unforced errors on his part, so I have to look at the line play. The collapsing pockets, continuous pressure, forced checkdowns, etc., were all reminiscent of problems past. Until this line gives him that extra .3 or .4 second of pocket time, we'll continue to see average-to-poor performances against strong rush defenses. |

RE: Steelers seem impressed by the offense
There were some bumps in the road for Ryan in this game. But nothing too major. I'm sure we'll get the same old "Matt Ryan isn't a franchise QB" from the same old guys. But I saw progression. Sure, he threw an interception, big deal. The Steelers are one of, if not the best defenses in the league. And to put up 276 yards in the half? That's awesome. I've said it all along, I'll keep saying it, our Falcons aren't showing all their cards. In fact, I think we will see a lot of things that will surprise even us on here.

RE: Steelers seem impressed by the offense
No question Matt and the offense were a lot better against Pittsburgh this year than in the opener last year. I was happy to see us moving the ball like we did, we just needed to get the three touchdowns we missed.
