Falcons Same Baker

RE: Same Baker
From watching, it just seems like the defensive ends are simply out-maneuvering him, if you get what I mean. Defensive Tackles are bigger, and rely more on brute strength. Maybe, if you swing him inside, he could give us some holes up the middle, he's definitely not weak, he's just slow and stupid basically.

you got that right Joe and the rest of you. Sam Baker is HOT GARGAGE. Move Clabo over, bring in Svitek - something.

Sam Baker is going to get Matt Ryan hurt - not only that, but all the nice wideout weapons (Roddy/Julio/HD) are useless when the QB does not have time to survey his options downfield.

I started a thread on TATF on this - watch Brady play and watch Matt Ryan - its night and day as to how much more time Brady has than Ryan to make plays.

RE: Same Baker
I've had a wait and see attitude towards this season for Baker and I've seen enough. Trent Cole absolutely destroyed him over and over and over all night. Baker is an embarrassment.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a UFA after this season and so is Joe Staley. I say we go for a top LT in FA. We don't have time to wait for a rookie.

RE: Same Baker
Unfortunately, Baker is the only viable LT on the team right now. As bad as he's looked (and will continue to look), guys like Svitek, Valdez, et al are far less capable at the position. There's nothing Paul Boudreau would like better than to move him inside, but the fall-off at the position would be unacceptable. I think we're screwed for the foreseeable future - I don't think there will be money for a top-tier FA LT if Grimes is retained. Any significant cap relief next year would have to come from Abraham and/or Gonzalez, and that doesn't sound good either. And of course there's no first round pick. Makes me think we'll all be posting in threads like this one for some time to come.

Looks like we found our new fail whale.

Baker just looked like he couldn't do a damn thing. I bet we put a college DE opposite and he still gets pushed around. seriously how lazy do you have to be to not get better in 3 years.

Drop him now and find someone to replace his ass.

-ROCK CHALK!!!

RE: Same Baker
Anyone is better at this point. What is Max Starks up to? How about Shawn Andrews. Anyone. He was getting bullrushed, exploded on, everything. Even with Palmer is was ugly. Palmer was a turnstile. At 260lbs he is only a receiver? Cut his arse. I'm sick of that garbage 150%!!!

Reynolds is a T playing at G. He and Baker should switch. I never saw Reynolds at G as big as he is.

"TOUCHDOWN! MY GOD, A TOUCHDOWN! WE THREW IT TO HAYNES! WE JUST STUFFED THEM WITH FIVE SECONDS LEFT! MY GOD ALMIGHTY, DID YOU SEE WHAT HE DID? DAVID GREENE JUST STRAIGHTENED UP AND WE SNUCK THE FULLBACK OVER! … WE JUST STEPPED ON THEIR FACE WITH A HOBNAILED BOOT AND BROKE THEIR NOSE! WE JUST CRUSHED THEIR FACE!" - Larry Munson broadcast UGA vs Tenn, 2001

Rest In Peace, Larry. You will be missed.
GO DAWGS! HUNKER DOWN!

Joe, what about moving Clabo to LT? Clabo is already the best pass-blocker on the team. We could maybe move Reynolds to Right Tackle and kick in Sam Baker/Mike Johnson at Right Guard.........at this point, I think Boudreau/Smith should at least experiment - leaving things "as is" certainly won't work.
