Matt attempted one deep pass to Julio and it was dropped in the end zone. I say deep really it was intermediate. after that the safeties lined up in the hashes deep enough to tell me they were playing the pass more than the run. If our run game ever got going they would have had to get more involved but it didn't. They kept the routes infront of them. Manning up on our receivers and gone zone over the top. It's very difficult to deal with that as it gives a team the freedom to quickly close on anyone who does get free.

Those safeties came in and made plays on the running cleaning up but they didn't do what our guys had to flowin in and stopping behind the line or on the line by design. It was more on reaction.

Peyton attempted 3 intermediate passes and all of them were picked off. Remember Koetter prefers to run his 4 verts but he and Matt clearly saw that taking that tact against this defense presented risks that they were not willing to take.

I think we need to get used to the idea of seeing our team play differently. Sometimes we will just drop bombs on you and and make it quick. Other times. It will have to be. Death by 1000 paper it's because whilst it isn't the most glamorous way to play it may be the most affective way to make sure we can put the W in the column.

Expect San Diego to get the Koetter experience on Sunday. Their Defensice statics comes at the benefit of going up against 2 very rubbish offenses thy have struggled to find consistency in any form for years. I expect those deep balls to be there but the way they are going to have to created is by our guys winning the battle through the route tree short medium to long. We can't rely on the run game to open up those seems. We now are in a position where are passing will be what allows us to run

Good info thanks. I may not be giving the Broncos defense enough credit. They may eventually be a top 10 or top 5 defense. But we'll find out a good bit more about them on Sunday because the Texans have a very good offense too. Let's see how they play them. Especially their running game.

I wouldn't be upset if we were getting 4 or 5 yards a carry instead of 1 or 2 yards carry setting us up in 3rd and longs for most of the 2nd half. The running game must improve if we are to play this style of offense against the teams with the good offenses. 67 yards on 28 carries isn't nearly good enough.
