Running The Ball
All week I've seen everyone and their momma say the Falcons need to run the ball and play keep away from Peyton. What have the Falcons done tonight? Just that and what do we have to show for it? 13 lousy points.

RE: Running The Ball
The Game is a tale of 2 Halves....Matty Ice & Koetter have mixed it up pretty good in the 1st half, now it's time for Adjustments for the 2nd half and hopefully another 20-24 points!!

This almost sounds like "Rex Grossman is still my starting quarterback" in terms of validity and accuracy.

Our running game looks beyond atrocious in two games so far.

Correct and that nearly lost us the game. Tonight was Mularkey ball 2.0. We took a game where we had a huge lead and then stopped playing offense and then had to bite our nails and hang on at the end. I'm fucking sick of the Falcons doing this shit all the time. I thought this was shit was over with when we got rid of Mularkey. But I guess I was wrong. We had like 4 passes the entire 4th quarter. That's just damn stupid.

I agree with you 100%. My wife and I were screaming at the tv to stop playing "prevent offense" but by Mularkey that's exactly what we did the entire fourth quarter.

RE: Running The Ball
If we could run the ball worth a flip, this game wouldn't have come down to the way it did. Our running game is terrible, and with the current starting personnel on the O Line and RB, it doesn't look to be getting much better any time soon.

I'm so glad Ryan is playing at an elite level and our pass blocking is also elite this year, but that's only half of the offense's job. Teams will now have to respect Ryan's arm and our offense (and will do so by putting more guys in coverage), and if we can't deliver on the ground from time to time to pull more guys toward the line away from covering the field, we are gonna have a hard time closing closer games out. If anything, this is gonna force some hands to consider starting Konz (since all I hear is that he can run block well) and play Snelling & Quiz more and Turner less.

We won't always be staked with 20 point leads. And when we aren't we are going to need our running game.

So glad we won...it was a great win. But we are going to need to do better.

RE: Running The Ball
It seemed we just played not to lose after the half. It almost cost us, so I think we will learn from that.
The way our pass blocking is doing (Sam proving Haters wrong so far... hats off man!), and with our weapons, I wish we'd just go flat out "Greatest Show on Turf" and pass all 4 downs till we either get a TD or TO every possession. I bet we'd win most of our games in shoot-outs, especially if the D keeps ballin'!

But that's the problem. This is year 5 of this crap. If Smitty was ever going to change he would have changed by now. He's never going to change and we're always going to have to put up with this shit.

RE: Running The Ball
Why the fuck are we not playing Quizz and Snelling more?!

[Image: 2menybt.jpg] Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.
