Rumors Moore wants to test free agency
There was a Bleacher Report (yeah, I know) post that Moore was looking to test free agency.
I was wondering, anyone think this "leak" is Moore looking to spike his price, or possibly get the franchise tag? What effect would that have? Should we tag him? Should we offer to pay him? What is his worth to us (love him, but all players have a value they should be let go for if they reach), and what do we offer him? Just thought this topic deserved more discussion. I love his play, but what is his worth to Nolan, and are injuries a concern when discussing his value? Formerly SBC Falcon

They have to be, he has missed 1/3rd of his games since he came into the NFL. Add that to the fact that his play is incredibly inconsistent and you get player that is overrated and overvalued. Falcons have already got maximum value out of him, signing him long term to a lucrative contract would be a mistake IMO. On his best day he is a top 3 safety, but he doesn't have many games like that. We have a ton of guys on the roster that have unfulfilled potential and Willy Mo is one of them. |

RE: Rumors Moore wants to test free agency
Let Moore walk. I love him on the team, but he's going to be asking for way more than he is actually worth. He's also starting to acquire the injury prone tag by a lot of people.
Let him go, sign George Wilson to a low and short term contract. He graded our as a top 5 safety the last two seasons I believe.

RE: Rumors Moore wants to test free agency
Really and truly I can't see where he thinks he can get that much money from. Looking at the Free Agent Safeties this year, there are a lot. Seriously go and have a look, there are quite a few significant names, players who would be rated ahead of him. Mainly thanks to their durability coupled with an equa or better level of play. In a situation like that it seems more likely he'd end up going to a worse team who will pay more. The man said it himself that the money wasnt the motivating factor but more how he pkays and who he plays for so I really can't grasp where else he feels he could go to and enjoy the type of defense he now gets to play in?
It's gonna be a bitch of a month running up to Free Agency. Gonzalez needs to make up his mind in the next few weeks. That way the FO knows what they are working with going into FA. It would be selfish if him a d unfair to the team to continue this Mmm ahh dance too close to there and leave them with less time and opportunity to look at and prepare to go after any free agent at his position or not what with them waiting to see what he does. If Gonzalez re-signs. If Turner is cut, Robinson restructured, and Ryan extended. There will be more money to play with. Perhaps then after bringing back Baker if Moore really does want too much we could get a Free Agent pass rusher in the fold. Where we are in the 1st, we have a shot a top 3 player at safety, top 5 DT in what us a deep draft a 5 to 10 rated end. And probably the number 1 rated running back. We have options. Shit if we took a free agent rusher you could see Elam or Lacy/ Bernard 1st A Safety if we don't take one in the 1st or DT/DE continuing to address the D line. 2nd Whichever is the the BPA at a position of need out of those previously mentioned positions that have not been addressed with our 1st 3rd rounder. From there it really is about the way we want to build the team TD might want to take a TE still just because there should still be a lot of very good ones. If we have a 3rd comp pick. It's essentially a bonus player here. Could equally continue to build defense and go for a Linebacker or Corner. I think if Gonzalez does we, we could consider tyre kicking 1 or 2 FA tight ends but ultimately if the money ain't right. I see us set to infuse a lot if young new talent into our team. Feels like we are set to have a big draft that gives us starters and role players instantly at picks 1 through to 4 which is really 5 picks. When you look at it that way. We should be able to address in no particular order and pending to change between re-signs retirement and free agency and cuts. Running back Tight End Safety Defensive End Defensive Tackle And apart from at tight end not likely see any drop off between the old player and the new one based on current talent v new talent. Position being played and how much improvement is needed there, as well as whether we are looking at a starter or a role player. If this were say Spoon saying he wanted to test FA I'd be a bit more concerned. But no disrespect is meant when I say this but Moore certainly is upgradeable and easily done this year if he chooses to go elsewhere. In a year like when we got Robinson where there were limitations on the corners available maybe he could have held us to ransom or got a big payday. But there is a lot of deep field talent available between free agency and the draft. That certainly lowers his number in reality as supposed to what he may want. It's the nature of the NFL. |

RE: Rumors Moore wants to test free agency
He's got a side dream of a music career, so leaving the ATL seems like it would not be worth it to him either way. I think we resign him at a legitimate price.
If we don't use the franchise tag on him, who so we target with it? If we aren't using it otherwise, I say we throw it on TG, just to make our intentions 100% clear (and make KC have to give us a pick in order to sign him to a 1-day contract and retire.... He retires a Falcon!). ;p Formerly SBC Falcon

RE: Rumors Moore wants to test free agency
You realize that the Chiefs don't have to sign him to the one day contract so he retires a chief.....that is a courtesy to a player who wants to retire with a certain team. When he is selected to the hall of fame he gets to choose which team he represents....that is why we should get him to come back and win a superbowl....you don't think he would consider being inducted as a Falcon at that point.....I know he would consider it....
