There’s a war of words brewing between two of the NFL’s best wide receivers.

Atlanta’s Roddy White was asked in an NFL Network interview whether he and Julio Jones are a better duo than Giants receivers Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks, and in answering the question White took a little bit of a shot at Cruz.

“Victor Cruz is a lot more of a slot receiver; the big boys play on the outside,” White said.

That’s far from the worst trash talk we’ve ever heard, but when Cruz was told about it he didn’t take kindly to it.

“I couldn’t care less about what anybody else has to say,” Cruz told the Star-Ledger. “I got a ring back at home. I don’t care about what Roddy White has to say.”

White believes the Falcons have the best pair of receivers in the league.

“The thing that me and [Julio Jones] bring to the game, we’re probably the best duo in the league right now,” White said.

Cruz sounds satisfied enough about having a ring that he’s willing to let White go ahead and keep thinking that.

Grabbed that off profootballtalk. Interesting. Sometimes I wish Roddy would just shut up. He opens his mouth and talks, talks, talks. More often than not when he does, he makes himself seem like an absolute idiot. Just shut up and play football. Up until he got a twitter account, the guy was never heard, now we can't get him to stop.

Much less, talking down to a guy who burned us in a 24-2 playoff loss is even worse. Why do that?

And the people getting upset with Roddy speaking his mind right or wrong need to grow a pair. Everyone has been so brainwashed by constant coach and player speak that when someone comes along and tells it how they see it they don't like it. I on the other hand find it quite refreshing.

He's saying that Cruz isn't an outside receiver. That's not correct. He's proven time and time again he can play inside or outside. He torched us from all over the place in the playoffs.

I feel like he's right about him and Julio being a best duo in the league (Only because Nicks is always injured imo) but, I couldn't see myself smashing another guy saying he wasn't made for the outside spot and the big boys play the outside. Just my opinion I guess. I would rather our guys just shut up and play, you know, like Matt Ryan does.

I love Roddy, he's a great receiver and he's a teammate first type of guy, but I just wish he'd concentrate on the game.

Ask him a question, get an answer. Like it or not. So I love that. And he said prior to his comments that he wasn't taking shots at anyone. Media just does what the media does.
