Recruiting Tony G to return.
*The Falcons are actively trying to recruit tight end Tony Gonzales to return to the team for his 16th season. Gonzalez has said he is 95 percent certain he will retire, but the Falcons are banking on the other five percent. Coach Mike Smith told Gonzalez of his hopes in their exit meeting, and he plans on continuing to try to sell Gonzalez on the benefits of returning.

I heard Matt Ryan was also trying to get him to stay for one more season. If we lost that game against the Seahawks, I bet Tony would be like Fuck that, I'm snake bit, its never going to happen. But winning that game, showed him, he's not snakebit and he like Tiki Barber could be leaving right when it was about to happen. I pray and hope he does stay for one more year. Its not like hes out of condition. Hes probably on better shape then a lot of mid-twenties to late age players in the NFL.

RE: Recruiting Tony G to return.
I don't really think we can afford him. Love TG but we can't afford to pay a TE 5.9M again. Any money we use to pay him is money that could go towards securing the young core of this team.

RE: Recruiting Tony G to return.
Disagree, Aftermath. His production is well-worth his cost, and a ring now should be the goal. His presence would only help develop another TE, and would not impact our ability to find our future at that position.

So you're saying the countless interviews TD and Smitty have done saying they really hope and pray Tony comes back has all been a hoax. Right. |

I didn't say that they don't want him back, I'm sure they do, but I (my opinion here, don't get ancy) think that the 6M or so we will spend to resign him this year could be better used on defense. I don't envision a huge offensive drop off if TG doesn't come back, I think our O will still be good/great with 3-4 wide sets. Again, just my opinion, no need to cut your wrists or anything. |

Sure sounded like you were making a definitive statement.
"Love TG but we can't afford to pay a TE 5.9M again." Nothing "misinterpreted" there. You said it like it was a fact. |

LOL, look AM, you've been saying stupid shit on this site now for quite some time. Damn near troll material a lot of the time. So nobody's getting "pissy" about anything or taking anything "out of context". We're just responding accordingly. You should expect most replies to come across contentious at this point. You've dug yourself into that hole. |
