Reading between the lines on the Gonzalez Signing
Ready between the lines of Tony's statements about the signing, it seems like the money and the training camp time were not his biggest concerns after all. What was? It looks like he had to be convinced that the Falcons had a credible plan to fix the defense for 2013. Well we haven't seen that plan, but if it was good enough to convince Tony, then that is very promising for the season ahead!
Also, since this is a one shot deal with Tony, convincing him that Falcons were going to go the extra mile to win now had to be a big part of the discussions. I am so glad that Tony sees, and apparently the front office agrees, that shoring up the defense is the way forward. So no, Steve Jackson, the Falcons are not one RB away from a Super Bowl. Just the reverse. They have to fix the run defense (and also improve the underneath coverage and get more pressure) to have a real shot. |

I kind of agree, Tony is not going to come back if we don't have a shot. and you would have to be blind deaf and dumb not to see, they have to fix the defense or were going to have another season of almost. Kind of funny people used to bitch about Keith Brooking and the 3rd and 16, now it has turned into 10 yards. How stuff changes. Just thought it was kind of Dejevu that Brooking was on the Broncos and they lost being the hard core favorite. Wouldn't surprise me if they dump him this year.
