RE: Re-Focused: Falcons @ Saints, Week 16
That is not our goal. But our team is one that works towards the end objective but doing our best not to overlook what exactly is I front of us. Believe it or not that is a lesson your pressure all world beating saints have learned quite a few times between this season and the last.

I would rather us focus on getting us that first win because it is a monkey on our back just like back to back winning seasons now we have done 4 of those and we have built a solid foundation out of what was piss poor.

On that Roman Harper business you need to accept that that guy is not all that when it comes to what his actual job is supposed to be. Greg Williams has done a good job covering up his pass coverage deficiency by sending him on the blitz. But even that is proving to be beyond the price you are paying. Just like Atlanta with Dunta the guy is not worth the money he is being paid. Are you telling me if you had to pick between Harper and some of the other corners in the league you would still pick him to general your secondary. Because if that's the case I think you are ridiculous.

Who are these teams who acknowledge him as "quite a bit better than average"? Dude that language there says enough. Being quite and a bit better than average does not entitle you to that kind of money. The stats run by pff prove that. These are the same stats that up until a few weeks ago had Julio on a 0.0 rating because despite his goods he was still fucking up. The system isn't flawless but it's right more times than it is wrong. Next you will be telling me that if either were in line for ROY Ingram would get it before Jones.

First of all, I wouldn't pick Harper over any of the corners in the league. He plays strong safety and in Gregg Williams defense his job is to crowd the line, play the run and rush the QB. It is seldom his job to cover a receiver one on one and when it is his job it is quite often against today's matchup nightmare TE's that nobody can cover anymore. If you ever see him on a WR it is usually because of blown coverage by the safety.

Harper isn't a cover 2 safety, which it sounds like you are trying to compare him to. He does his job in the Saints lineup as well as anyone in the league could. It really doesn't matter what you think of him, I have seen far to many big time plays made by Harper that I am more than satisfied with his worth.

Right I made a mistake with my words you can have that.

The same way you don't care what I think of Harper is the same way we don't care about your opinions on our football team. Do you get where I am coming from. You seem to be happy to comment and criticise but on the flip side unhappy that we do it. I asked you for these sources that call him an above average and thus validate his price tag. Realise this I am talking about a complete Safety here not one type versus another. Harpers type of safety will be dead in a few years because he can't do it all. He is in a scheme that covers that for him, but in the box non Rangey safeties like Harper are getting less and less. You have to be able to play in front of you and behind you with equal ability. It's clear that Harper is not a good safety, he is being used in a particular role but even there he is not being productive.

Like you said though you don't care about my opinions and thus it's not up for discussion. Just remember that then when we are having discussions in our players or our team if that is going to be your attitude.

I fully appreciate your opinion on the Saints players. That is one of the reasons I first came here. But, you are criticizing Harper for something that is not his job. He was resigned because he does his job extremely well. You state that he isn't being productive. The facts are that he leads the Saints in both solo and total tackles. He is tied for the team lead in forced fumbles and leads the team in sacks. He is one sack short of setting the all-time record for sacks by a defensive back. He was second in voting for the NFC Strong Safety selection (including player and coaches counting 2/3rds)

I don't get the deal with him. He's rushed the passer more than any other safety in the league by far, and has more unblocked rushes than anyone in the NFL easily. PFF has the stats on that.

This sounds very reasonable.
