Brady Ewing suffered an injury to his right knee in the first quarter on a punt return.

Akeem Dent got a concussion on a second quarter punt.

Not exactly a great start, injury wise, to the preseason. Ewing took a cart back to the locker room, so he may be out for a while. My guess on Dent is that he won't play again in the preseason, but still has a chance to start the first game.

I'll just use this thread to talk about the game instead of making a new one.

120 penalty yards and 4 turnovers? I know it's preseason and the first game and all but we need to get that fixed. I don't know details because I'm near Cincy and didn't get the game, nor did I listen on radio or stream but I hope it's not as bad as the numbers look.

Pass Interference call was questionable.... no worry there. Some penalties were guys just trying too hard to make a play to make the team. One Int went right off the receiver's hands (not QB fault). One fumble was late and from not securing the ball while going down after a catch... basically a teaching moment if he makes the team for much longer. Matt's Int was what appeared to be QB and WR on different pages... that will get fixed, as it's the first game.

I was not worried about any of the turnovers or penalties. Everything I saw that mattered was how we dominated both sides in the first half when it counted, and some promising plays from guys looking to add depth this year sprinkled into the game.

Thanks for the info Drathdon. That's why there's a preseason. Get the bugs worked out. I did like Julio jones' numbers though... 18.2 ypc

Ewing is a rookie and Cox is serviceable in the FB hole.

We'll be fine there. I'm worried about MLB.

ok it turned into a blowout for the final score. let's be realistic, our first string dominated their first string on both sides of the ball. opening drive was a thing of beauty on offense. JJ had 4 catches for 57 yards, and come on, we've all been screaming for screens and that one out to him was a thing of beauty!

as for D, well, our first string was aggressive and flying all over the place. BAL first three possessions were 3 and outs, absolutely awesome! Matt looked sharp, he did look to have a lil more zip on the ball, that downfield pass to JJ in stride is another thing we've all been clamoring for!

concerned about MLB, Dent needs the reps there, not on ST, I don't understand why he was out there for that, too many others who need to be working on making the team for ST, we don't need to be getting our starters hurt out there. Hope Ewing's knee isn't a complete blowout. are we snake bit or what? Douglas, Jerry, Moore, Meier, .... I mean geesh!

I was well pleased with the starters, even Reynolds didn't appear to do too badly.

Bad from first string...

Turner had no holes. He seemed slow to me.

Oline did good pass protection, minus Baker on 2 plays, but still not enough power to open running lanes.

I didn't see the game but I watched some highlights online. I'll watch the rebroadcast later this week on NFL Network.

I have to say Ryan looked strong and confident in the pocket. He moved with the pocket and created time for himself. Last year he seemed to just stand there and take hits. He looked like he did the first year.

I can't speak to the run game but that will come. I'm excited that we are pushing the ball down field through the air, that will open the run game. I think we will do a lot of second half running this year because the offense will be so explosive early.

A fair amount of that yardage was on what looked to be a horrendous pass interference call. I'm still trying to figure out what the corner did wrong. From section 113, it looked like a perfectly defensed pass.

Did the replays on TV shed any light on that?
