Falcons: Post Game Press Conference

Make that 4 out of 5 trips to the playoffs. While it has not been the desired end result it absolutely is success.

Then again I remember people asking Bellichik if he considered the 2007 season a failure. He said he couldn't imagine any way that 18-1 could be called a failure.

For those that consider the last 5 years to have been a failure I really hope you apply that same standard to your personal and professional lives just to see how ridiculous that is.

Back to Cox for a second, it's amazing how we've latched on to him and built up his legend. He ran countless pitchers into the ground. He absolutely destroyed Avery in his rookie season. You ever wonder why we never had a closer or regular setup men for more than a couple of seasons? Bobby ran his bullpen into the ground every season. Every season. Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz covered up for a lot of Bobby's horrific management and Glavine put the team on his back in 95 to get us that WS. Take off the homer glasses and think about how many championships those teams would of won with an actual field general like Torre or LaRussa. I hate those guys but they knew how to get it done and work a game to their favor.

Dude I quit responding. You'd think we were the fan base of the packers with how little we appreciate being a good and relevant team. Only counting championships as success, all else as failure. I mean I want playoff success too, but I won't kill these guys when it's evident they're trying their hardest to win. If we get beat in our first playoff game this year ill be pissed but as long as the organization is putting forth effort ill be ok. No different than anything else. Everyone can think what they want but to me the level of meltdown I've seen from all of our fans is crazy.

That was not effort that they put forth yesterday. That was a total lay down. They just took it. No fight. No fire. No emotion. Nothing. Sorry but if I'm on an 11-1 team and I'm playing a division rival who's 3-9 and talking shit out of their ass then I'm going to come out fired up to shove it in their face. Might even go over the edge and get flagged for a cheap shot. But they're gonna know that I ain't gonna take no shit off anyone. The Falcons don't have that kind of drive. They're not the Patriots. The Panthers wouldn't dare talk like that if they were playing the Patriots because they know they would get their asses stomped. But nobody is scared of the Falcons and why should they be? As Arthur Blank said after getting embarrassed by the Giants last January, simply making the playoffs isn't good enough anymore. If the Falcons play in January like they did yesterday it will be the same result.

I understand what you're saying but I choose to believe we'll succeed. Always have been that way, not gonna change now.

I had felt all season like this season the team had a different attitude. But yesterday proved it wasn't.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around people saying yesterday's game didn't matter. How did it not matter?

Maybe I picked the wrong coach. I just heard what Ken Wisenhunt said and the first thing he did was issue a public apology to the fans for an embarrassing loss. It doesn't make the loss any better but at least it shows public accountability.
