Re: Post Game Press Conference
I certainly wouldn't mind seeing improvement on the line. I think that is the weakest area (speaking the obvious I realize).

It's funny that folks saying Cox and Smith are similar and without emotion... However I''m pretty sure Cox holds some sort of record for game ejections and Smith is hysterical when he blows up on the sideline... You can't say the two don't show emotion, they just keep in in check in front of the media.

RE: Post Game Press Conference
I guess some of you guys would hate to hate to have the coach up in New England. He's never passionate at press conferences

He's got an 0-3 record on his own. ![]()

Thing is...we have had instant success, but go ahead and crucify Mike Smith. |

After the 2007 season, did you honestly expect to have 4 straight winnig seasons whilst making the playoffs 3 out of those 4 years? Is that not some sort of instant success? I'm not saying that I am satisfied, but that is definitely a form of success from where we were at. Take a step back Aftermath, Im honestly not sure why Im tryna reason with someone who already signed a thread that we would go one and done. Actually the first person to sign.... |

RE: Post Game Press Conference
I can see the comparison with Cox and Smith. I know a lot of people think Bobby was a great manager and when it came to handling his players off the field he was. Of course when it game to making actual in game decisions regular season or playoffs he was pretty bad. Smith has had some questionable in game moves but I don't think he does them with the consistently game in and game out manner of a Booby Cox. I'm willing to give Smith the benefit of the doubt for now. Football is a different game and takes time to build up a program. We're where we need to be five years in and this post season is the next step where Smith needs to prove something.
Back to Cox for a second, it's amazing how we've latched on to him and built up his legend. He ran countless pitchers into the ground. He absolutely destroyed Avery in his rookie season. You ever wonder why we never had a closer or regular setup men for more than a couple of seasons? Bobby ran his bullpen into the ground every season. Every season. Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz covered up for a lot of Bobby's horrific management and Glavine put the team on his back in 95 to get us that WS. Take off the homer glasses and think about how many championships those teams would of won with an actual field general like Torre or LaRussa. I hate those guys but they knew how to get it done and work a game to their favor.
