I do not know how you can say that when 3 players passed 5k last year.

3 Stafford 5038

4 Manning 4933

The Top end standard mark is 4500 yards.
Any more than that is a phenomenal season for any QB.

So look for at least one player to hit 5k every year from now on.
The league has changed to rules to favor this level of exhibitionism
for fan excitement.
