I do not know how you can say that when 3 players passed 5k last year. 1 Brees 5476 2 Brady 5235 3 Stafford 5038 4 Manning 4933 5 Rodgers 4643 The Top end standard mark is 4500 yards. Any more than that is a phenomenal season for any QB. So look for at least one player to hit 5k every year from now on. The league has changed to rules to favor this level of exhibitionism for fan excitement. Gone are the days of a 3-0 victory. Ever watched a game that was won on a sole score of 3 points ? Sure it was blood and guts football, but it could get boring quick. |

I think last year was a bit of a temporary mirage, I don't think we are going to see numbers quite like that again.
Just win the games. 4000 yards is fine as long as the Falcons are winning the games. I suspect he will be right close to 4500 this year though. |

Talk about a game putting you to sleep. Oh and I know it's just preseason but the Cowboys beat the Raiders 3-0 tonight. LMAO! ![]()

Ryan played in 8 games over the last 9 games of last year-sat out a full game in the two late season blowouts. In those 32 quarters, he had 2500 yards, 20 TDs and 4 INTs, YPA of 7.9, QB rating over a 100.
5000 yards is certainly possible. |

I was expecting someone to make that argument, but I can make the argument that the lockout hurt new passing combinations (i.e., Ryan-Jones) more than it hurt defenses. If so, then a non-lockout year may actually see the trend expand. Furthermore there are more and more teams that recognize the trend towards relying primarily on a passing offense. Sure defenses are adjusting, but, in addition, more teams are doing what they can to be part of it. (In other words, the more that passing succeeds, the more that teams will try to pass.) When more passes are attempted by both teams, the number of plays run during a typical game goes up. This further helps expand passing yard statistics. |

It's pretty clear it had that effect last year. Go back and look at the league wide passing yardage the first few weeks, it was way above the norm (Cam Newton week 1 is a prime example). We were the outlier because our entire offensive line was pathetic. Later in the season things started to level out.
