Perhaps this is the main problem with our offense - still. The plays seem to be too manilla sometimes, and I think that's what the Raiders keyed on and figured out ways to stop them. We made adjustments and looked a little better in the 2nd half, but I saw nothing that I wanted to see continued. Literally ANY other QB in the league holds that ball?! Really? I guess you're right because I've NEVVVVVVVVVER seen that happen before.

Yeah when you have a guy open you step up and throw it, you can't stare down the pass rush, no way to account for our line rolling out a welcome mat to Ryans grill.

Yep. Ryan tried to hang and there and throw it to Tony (who was open) and just got hit and it floated up like a duck for an interception. It's happened a ton in the NFL. How anyone can blame Ryan for that is beyond me. ![]()

RE: Perhaps our offensive SCHEME is the problem.
We've definitely held things back on offense and Defense the last 3 weeks. You look at the passing game weeks 1 to 3 and it was a lot more diverse. 3 to 6 some of those effective plays have been held out. The focus appears to have been more on the execution of the fundamentals the base stuff in each formation on offense and defense. Yesterday I saw the most complex blitz package we have sent at a QB since th Manning game. Willie Mo just over anticipated the same kind of baiting coverage that got them the pick against Manning where he never saw the defender trailing. That's the one where Asante was playing over the top and Willie was the underneath robber.
Also I call bullshit on Koetter not changing the scheme and just the play calling. There are a load of plays that we have never seen this team use before. But it has bee. More than documented. That we kept parts if the old playbook parts of the Koetter's stuff and stuff that is the product of the Atlanta offense contributing to designing stuff that they can see making use of their personnel. We have got a very difficult schedule coming up for 4 weeks + after the bye. Whilst we have had our struggles we have still won. And I expect that our offense is going to come out with a lot more than they have shown. I also think our defense is going to come out with a different tuning too. Remember this isn't van Gorder and MM where the same shit you see in September you still see it in December. This team is being conducted a little more organically this time around. Go back and watch all our games if you can. The percentage of what we have shown is small. No team has an offensive playbook that limited. Especially when they've combined a bunch of schemes. |

Starting this thread when we're 6-0 is not a good look

RE: Perhaps our offensive SCHEME is the problem.
Interceptions, and I believe Smitty had said this before, are a combination of a lot of factors. There are so many things that happen during a football play that can cause a pick, coverage, timing, a misstep, a missed block, a bad throw, a tip, etc. Normally more than one of these things at one time cause the pick. Ryan will take the blame for all picks. Turnovers only matter when they cause a team to lose. We have lost the turnover battle the last two weeks and are 2-0.

If I recall, it was reported that it was about 80% the same as Mularkey, with a few twists and screen game additions, along with a new play caller.

Perhaps our offensive SCHEME is the problem.
I may be wrong but I was under the impression that it was mostly the terminology that was the same to make it easier from a learning perspective. It certainly looks a lot different to me, schematically speaking.
