That's cool. But just forgive us if we hate on Newton a bit, okay? Tongue

RE: Panthers Fan Here...
It's amazing to me that I have been banned from Panthers forums for saying the same thing you did in the OP because some of our fans can't face reality sometimes and I find a voice of reason on here. I'm not quite ready to kick our coaches out, but they have honestly kept this team back so far this year. The play calling and inexperience has come through time and time again.

We eliminated some of our penalties and did better with the play calling and running game this pas Sunday against the Saints, but it still didn't prevent a terrible decision before the half, a 3rd and 2 play that would have won us the game where we choose to go deep and shoddy clock management at the end of the game.

I do see us winning this game if we can continue doing a better job at stopping the run, if our staff can prepare our team to get it together as a group and if our coach can manage an entire game for the full 60 minutes.

You guys win if you can run down our throats, pick up field position from our suspect special teams, pick Cam Newton for one and keep the ball out of our hands. If you give us time of possession and give Cam time to make plays, he will.

You are right, no rookie starting QB is THAT good. Matt Ryan was about the best you could get out of a rookie starting QB. Cam Newton is no Matt Ryan.

As soon as defenses start scheming specifically to limit Cam's ability to make quick reads or run the ball, his stats/play will come down to earth. Right now the Panthers are an unknown quantity and on the bad team end of the spectrum. If they ever start winning football games this year you can bet your ass coaches around the league will start scheming to make Cam look like hot garbage.

Not sure that I agree with you there. Cam's having by far the best season any Rookie QB has had, not as a team, but individually.

And when compared to Matt Ryan, Matt's one of the 3 QB's that currently has more passing attempts than Cam Newton. However what comes into play is that while Cam Newton's in 4th for passing attempts he's in third for total yards with 1610 yards while Matt's third in passing attempts and 12th in total yards with 1302. And they both have a similar completion ration(Cam 58%, Ryan 61%). But that's after Cam's had his worst game of the season against the Saints. Personally I feel neither one of these guys should be in the top 4 for passing attempts with those types of completion ratios, but that's an issue with the OC.

Deep balls, one of the most important aspects of a passing QB....Cam's leading the league with most yards at 599 while Matt's posting one of the worst completion ratios for deep throws.

And as far as teams starting to cover Cam if we start winning, I really hope your coach has this same relaxed attitude, because the truth is teams started doing that after his first game beginning with GB. He had his worst day against the Saints, but on some plays the Saints had 2 spies on Cam Newton. Just ask Sean Peyton.

So if the Falcon's aren't already game planning for him just because we have a losing record, I think you will be in a world of hurt. And finally Cam's a rookie. His accuracy will be erratic from game to game depending on what kind of defensive schemes he's going to see for the first time. Matt's not. They really shouldn't even be in the same sentence, and yet Cam's outplaying him.

Exactly, Cam is a Rookie on a terrible team. Matt Ryan's first three years in the league are only surpassed/equaled by Marino (I think). I do not fear rookie QBs, especially ones who are getting most of their passing stats in YAC and Deep Bombs. Unless Cam turns into Brett Favre, he does not worry me within our division.

I think we will be ready to roflstomp yall this week. I would not sleep on our team simply because of our record. We have played probably close to the toughest first five games out of any team in the league, based on last seasons records/playoff success.

Bam.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...cam-newton
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The NCAA says it found no major violations committed by Auburn regarding Cam Newton or other pay-for-play allegations.

The NCAA released a statement Wednesday saying it has closed its 13-month investigation into Auburn's recruitment of the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, whose father shopped his services to another school for nearly $200,000.

The NCAA also cleared Auburn in allegations by four former players that they received payments during their recruitment or careers.

The NCAA says "any allegations of major rules violations must meet a burden of proof, which is a higher standard than rampant public speculation online and in the media."

It also says the investigation could be reopened if evidence surfaces.

LOL, his dad is shopping him around and he supposedly doesn't know.

We all know that's complete bullshit. But whatever, it's moot and I personally never gave a shit because I hate the NCAA.

Thus far, only Mother Nature herself has limited Cam in the Monsoon Bowl against Jacksonville. Yall absolutely kill me. Cam is the real deal. He's keeping a team with like 18 defensive players on IR in the thick of things every game and the entire offense flows through him, despite two good RB's on the roster. That's incredible IMO.

Is he a hall of famer? No, he's a rookie. But he's having a remarkable rookie season through 5 games.

there's limited film on him, the college tapes are obviously a joke. the more film defensive coordinators get on him the more they can scheme for him. took the league a few years to figure out vick, but they did... he's about as elusive and big arm a quarterback you're ever going to get. he doesn't have cam's size he'll be figured out.
