PFF on Falcon FA's Brent Grimes and Thomas DeCoud
From their, "Ranking the 2012 Free Agents: Corners" article.

Quote:1) Brent Grimes , Atlanta Falcons

Age as of September 1st, 2012: 29

2011 Grade: +16.0

Key Stat: Grimes allowed only 258 total receiving yards last season.

Behind the Numbers: In truth, Brent Grimes is never likely to hit the open market, with the Falcons seemingly ever more certain to Franchise him rather than risk his escape. Atlanta has put themselves in the awkward position of seeing three key members of their defense hit free agency in the same year, but it looks as if they are likely to tag Grimes and risk losing the others. As good as Grimes is, and he may very well be the best cover corner in the league after Revis, he will be 29 by the time the season rolls around and teams would be reluctant to offer a big contract in terms of both dollars and years to a player of that age.

From their, "Ranking the 2012 Free Agents: Safeties" article.

Quote:2) Thomas DeCoud, Atlanta Falcons

Age: 27

2011 Grade: -0.7

Key Stat: Allowed 26 receiving yards from Week 11 on, compared to 341 in the first 10 weeks.

Behind the numbers: Similar to Branch, DeCoud is a 2008 draft pick who has started the last three years. He also is a strong force against the run, but missed tackles in general hurt his rating with 11 on the season. He improved as the season went on, not only in the run game, but the pass game too, helping his case. If he can continue the play he showed late in the season, he could be a solid addition.

I'm surprised Decoud was rated that well.

People ride him too hard, his only major flaw is missing some tackles (And silly dances after rather insignificant plays but I still kind of like the dances), I know that's a biggie but it's all correctable.

I wouldn't mind keeping DeCoud either, as long as the money is right. If he starts talking stupid numbers, then I say go get somebody worth the dollars.

This is my signature.

Yeah, DeCoud isn't worth more than about 4 million a year, but he's worth keeping.
