RE: Owens could flourish under Mike Nolan
Beef, it took Grimes a few years to get to where he is right now.
Before that, everybody was saying all Grimes got was his hard working attitude. And look where he is now. Give Owens another season with Nolan before you make the desicions on the man.

RE: Owens could flourish under Mike Nolan
Dude its a PI or not .... If the Ref said its not a PI .. Its not a PI.
I dont get why when some dont like a guy they say what something could have been.... It wasnt I'm not saying like Owens or dont like Owens... Im just saying dont use "should have" or "could have" ... If you feel like he sucks.. He sucks.. If you think he showed signs of progression.. He showed signs of progression. ![]()

Owens could flourish under Mike Nolan
He's earned enough for me to no longer consider him the worst player on the team (that honor now goes to Baker)

You can keep hope alive, I'll believe it when I see it. Besides it really doesn't matter why he sucked, the result is the same. As for the other part, Joey Harrington was a first team All American too which should illustrate how little that means in the NFL. |

RE: Owens could flourish under Mike Nolan
I will say this, Owens does look better on the outside than in the nickel spot. Probably has to do with the fact that in the nickel, you gotta cover all around you(360 degrees) and he just doesn't react quick enough or isn't comfortable in that spot.
On the outside, if he's in a cover 2 zone, he has to cover what's to the right of him and what's in front of him basically. The safety has his back. Hopefully, with a new system and a MUCH better coordinator that puts his best guys in the best position, he really progresses next season. Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.

The last couple games he played CB pretty decent in grimes absence. And both times the defense held. He was a great asset on special teams in 2011.

The Falcons will be better off with Franks and Darrin Walls instead of bringing Owens back here. Owens has great potentinal which I admire but it doesn't excuse Owens getting burnt more than often for this Falcons team. |
