Offense Wake Up Call!!!
I still support this team, but have to call out our offensive performance today! I watched the game from my fav spot Taco Mac and I was expecting not an explosive offense, but efficient playcalling and handling of the ball...boy somebody took a dump in my beer.
Matt Ryan's throw into quadruple coverage nearly made me take a dump right there at bar...how could he not see to throw the ball away!! Then we start moving the ball on the ground with some great checkdowns for decent YAC and Turner coughs up the rock!!! WTF sir!!! What happened to protecting the ball today...we have enough vets to make this happen. What do we get but Chicago putting a 30 burg on us on national tv. Because of offensive mistakes, the defense was on the field too long. They held Chicago offense to 3 field goals to give the team a chance. It is squandered away by the 2nd quarter and obliterated in the 3rd by our inability to make it happen in the red zone. Matt is looking for the safest throw to his crutch called TG. The checkdowns are fine if they get good YAC, but the defense (Chicago) did not feel threatened by long or medium passes and dared us to run on them. Our base offense should go immediately to three receiver set to spread out the defense and we should start working on using screens. Chicago is a great screen running team. We got burned by at least five screens today. Most were wide receiver screens but DAMN!!!! They work well if executed properly and slow aggressive defenses. Matt was rushed a little but the hot route should be there. We should dare teams to blitz. We pay Matt and our receivers too much not to be able to do this in there sleep. We were not looking bad at all until our veterans start coughing up the ball!!! Making bad decisions without being really pressured. Look at both the first interception and the fumble by Turner and you see vets who should know better!!!! If we are going to start passing the rock, then better decisions need to be made on the field by our veteran players. Julio showed up to play today and we must get him involved to open up the O. Where was HD today!!!!! Where!!!! Somebody help me please!!!!! Jez! HD looked dejected as I watched @da Mac today on TV. He did not get any touches. Was he covered that well? TG needs to come off the field and Rogers should be on the field. Rogers pass protects well and would run the ball well on the pro level. He performed adequately today and should get more touches in our no huddle and give him the ball on screens!!!! I usually do not post here because there are many more experienced poster that are entertaining to read, but I need someone to give me their perspective on our offense. I am not attacking anyone player intentionally, only saying what I saw from my fav spot to watch the Falcons!!! ![]()
