Im trying to rationalize why Smith panic and called timeout at 13 seconds instead of running clock down to 3 seconds

It was our last timeout and we knew we were well within Bryant's range. More chances of something bad happening if we tried to rush up, get set, spike it, and try for another play. If we hold on to the timeout, we could have run too much time off the clock for two plays. We could have had a penalty or sack that pushes us out of FG range. Or a fumble or interception.

Instead of chancing those things, Smith went with the better odds and the trust in Bryant.

but why not run the clock down to 4 seconds? and kick is last play

Falcons are out of timeouts a fumble exchange on snap is GAME over clock runs out by time every gets set

I didnt want to run another play ..Im saying is Smith should have ran clock down to 4 seconds and kick is last play of game


The onside kick is mind boggling. I will take that has kicker just hit the ball in wrong spot..No way Smith called for that ..

Ah ok. The only thing I can think is he needed to secure the time
Just in case they needed another shot that would have to put the receiver out of bounds?

Or purely that he panicked and wanted to get that time out used asap

So you're saying we should have rushed up and spiked the ball. Would have probably had about 8-10 seconds left. Then ran a kneel down play and call TO with 4 seconds. And then kick it.

I guess that could have been possible, but I still think that would have been more risky. Again, what happens if we false start and lose 5 yards on a penalty. Now it's a 54 yard kick.

I think Smith made the right call. 49 yards is damn near a sure thing with Bryant.

The crappy squib kick was a mistake. Smith already said in several interviews it was supposed to be much harder and make it well into the second layer but Bosher flubbed it. Bosher was nervous as fuck. He didn't play as well as normal. Those last two plays should have been different. The kick should have gone further and left maybe 3 seconds left for an 80 yard hail mary. It was not intended to be an onside kick.

No why rush ...Tony G made the catch ..We had plenty of time ..Allow Matt Ryan to go to ref and tell him at 4 seconds were going to call a time out ..This allows it to be last play of game


When Smith panic and called TIMEOUT at 13 seconds it didnt matter if there was a fumble exchange on snap since we have no more timeouts so any fumble snap would have left us with no timeouts to call anther play

When Smith panic and called TIMEOUT at 13 seconds it didnt matter if there was a fumble exchange on snap since we have no more timeouts so any fumble snap would have left us with no timeouts to call anther play

We could have spiked the ball or ran outside the pocket and threw it out of bounds.

But I think it was a panic move honestly. Nobody is perfect.
