Falcons: OK…So……Let’s Review the Situation Here

I appreciate the writeup and enjoyed it.

Simply put though, expectations are relative. When we know we have a crap team, it's foolish to complain because expectations are supposed to be relative. But when we know we have a very good team, well relative expectations apply then as well.

I'm extremely thankful we finally have a winning team and aren't still dealing with the nightmares of old. But that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed when I know we have a very good team and expectations are not being met.

Point is, being happy about one aspect and disappointed about the other isn't mutually exclusive. You can have both.

That was another humiliation in the long line of being a life long fan.

This new regime had changed my expectations. I expected more from the team.
So the fall was more painful. I have my expectations back in line now.

If we make it to the play offs- hooray !!! If we don't, no big deal.

In 2009 I was extremely disappointed the team didn't do better. I later realized that the 2008 season had just made me delusional with regards to where the team was. In fact I remember telling people near the end of the season that I didn't care about the winning record if the Falcons didn't make the playoffs.

I changed my mind about that though. I think it's pretty damn neat that the Falcons are about to have their 4th straight winning season.

Peyton, I agree with everything you wrote. It's nice to see another long time fan who realizes how much better shape the team is in now than it has been (and remained in under the Smith family ownership).

I would like to add one thing to what you said.

Especially with as many injuries as they had in 2009 I ended up pleased, for me the back to back deal was bigger because if they did it I would never have to hear about it again.

Yeah, me too, only game I went to that season. Falcons jumped out 10-0 on them and it was looking good for a minute.
