Umm, they were saying on the radio this morning that even though Baker hasn't played for 4 games, he still leads the team in penalties. He's also given up 3 sacks while Svitek has yet to give up a single sack. Blalock is leading with giving up 5 sacks, Clabo 3, Reynolds 3, and McClure and Hawley 2 each.

Svitek is better than Baker, period.

You got that right. Svitek has been holding his own. So what's the point of bringing, SackMakerBaker back?

And as for Owens....Always! Always! Getting burnt!

We have a couple spots we need to address in terms of carrying bad players.

You and I agree that Baker needs to go and should not automatically get his starting job back. His performances, throughout his career here, have been sub-par and he is a walking injury. He can not pass block worth a shit, his run blocking is terrible for his salary/draft position/years in the league, and he gets injured more than any other starting OL I have seen.

The second guy is Owens. You mentioned him recently and I agree that this dickhead needs to be benched or cut immediately. I would rather start some guy off the street than see him on the field for the Falcons ever again. Fuck this guy, he does his best to sabotage our leads and makes our secondary seem amateurish every time he is on the field.

Cut both of these guys immediately. I don't care about cap ramifications. I don't care who replaces them. It's time to patch this glaring weakness up while we are hot and making our run so it doesn't come back to bite us in the ass late in the season or in the playoffs!

RE: OH NO --- Sam Baker
to the people saying we'll automatically start Baker...Coleman did lose his job to injury last year, didn't he? so did Chris Owens this year until Hayden was injured also...hell, they benched DeCoud for a game this year also. I don't know what moves ya thought we could make with JA98 and Houston(who has been playing well in Detroit btw, so our coaching staff probably saw something also) but it's not like people are throwing out draft picks for underachieving players...and if an underachiever is our starter, I don't understand the logic that points to their back-up being world-beaters. act like we ain't came from having people like Brooking, Milloy, Houston, JA98, Chauncey Davis, and Grady Jackson starting...we had to cut all those people to make room for our current starters, half of that list took 1 year, the other half took 2.

RE: OH NO --- Sam Baker
I think the fear is that since baker was a 1st round pick that he will be given more latitude. JA98 was a 1st round pick too but not their 1st round pick, the others weren't either. So we will see if baker gets some special treatment. Personally I'm hoping for a stomach flu or food poisoning or anything really that keeps him out of the lineup. Not only because he sucks and sucks bad but also because I think we finally have some good chemistry finally going with the OL and I dont want to see that broken up.

In this case the current starter is clearly playing better than the previous starter, that's obvious to anyone with a brain and 2 good eyes. If baker comes back in the only reason is seniority or misplaced loyalty which would be moronic if your goal is to give yourself the best chance of winning. It's a football team, not a fraternity.

thank you. plus one for sure. I for one am not convinced that they will admit to being ready to give up on their second pick ever, esp after 'moving up' to reach and take him. when it's determined he's back to as healthy as can be, i firmly believe they will put him back in. again, i want to be wrong here, i really really do

I know i have heard over and over, as you all have as well, Coach says "we want to put the best players on the field" and even though Will has had 4 pretty darn good games, I do not think under any false hope or pretenses that they are ready to say a guy they picked up off someone elses practice squad (or had he been cut outright?) is better than the guy they drafted.
Different scenario all together with the safties. Coleman was the 'outsider' in that case. yes he went down to injury and lost his job after that, but he lost it to a guy they picked and had 'in waiting' to get there anyway.

Chew on THAT, Petunia!
