Before we go further on this subject let's do a little research and break it down. DeCoud - combo of solid play assignment integrity and athletic hustle. Brees tried to look him off and took the shot too late gave DeCoud the chance to close and make a great play on the ball. Spoon - Hustle play closed in on Ivory would have likely had a tackle for loss/ forced fumble/ incompletion, Brees threw a bad pass Ivory couldn't adjust allowing Spoon to pick it off. Moore number 1 - great play good baiting and adjustment to what was happening on the field. Brees threw across his body yes, but Moore would have likely jumped anything thrown into that area as he was seemingly in a rover type role on that play. Babineaux - Similar to the Peters pick Brees made a bad throw under pressure, not sure who either of those attempts were too, not sure if it was an attempt to ground the ball. Moore number 2 - Moore made a massive athletic play . The ground he covers to pick that ball is huge getting two feet in. The coverage down the sideline was good, contested, robinson and the receiver were jockeying but in fairness to them both i didnt see either commit a foul. I think the ball dropped short as Moore seemed to come in behind them not sure if receiver was meant to come back to the ball or if it just lost air... |

And with all that offense the taints must have won the game...right?

I am not downplaying the fact that Falcons' players made the plays, but ... as you pointed out: DeCoud - Brees tried to look him off and took the shot too late gave DeCoud the chance to close - Good play by DeCoud on a bad decision by Brees when the play couldn't be made. Spoon - Brees threw a bad pass Ivory couldn't adjust allowing Spoon to pick it off - As you pointed out, bad pass by Brees, good play by Spoon. Moore number 1 - Brees threw across his body yes, but Moore would have likely jumped anything thrown into that area as he was seemingly in a rover type role on that play - Very good play by Moore and Brees doesn't have the excuse of throwing across the body. He shouldn't have attempted the throw. Babineaux - Similar to the Peters pick Brees made a bad throw under pressure, not sure who either of those attempts were too, not sure if it was an attempt to ground the ball - Agreed. Brees should have taken the sack. That was a stupid throw. Brees underthrew that pass badly, but yes, Moore made a tremendous play on a ball that should have fallen well short. Mucho props to Moore on that dagger in the heart play. This game above all others was the one where Sean Payton was missed the most. It wasn't in the play calling, nor was it in the preparation. His absence clearly affected the in-game psyche of Brees. The game was never at a point where those types of chances should have been taken. The Saints defense was playing their best game of the season. They were shutting down Julio and Roddy forcing everything to Gonzo. The run game was not damaging. This loss was directly upon Brees' shoulders and the good plays made by the Falcons' defense taking advantage of Brees' mistakes. Don't forget, there was a Brees pick called back because of a defensive offsides call. As much as I love Brees and I would not want any other QB in the league ... this one was all on him. Oh wait...the Falcons offense put up their second worst output of the season. Well certainly their QB had to have great game? Oh wait...Matty Ice scorched the Saints' defense for 165 yards passing and one whole touchdown. Step back and look in the mirror, Metal. Guess you mean Templar... I'm never satisfied with the Falcons performances to the point where I would beat my chest about them. I'm too competitive and diagnostic to think this was a great win. Defensively he'll yeah we balled out. But offensively we should have buried your team. The way the d played for Atlanta if the offense was even half way efficient say at the level Matt had them at in TB and in New Orleans this game is a blowout with the right rhythm and balance. Now it's not needed to be a blow out. But you go out a execute and the o did not do that at all and left way too many points on the field |

Come on Guido. You sound like you're giving props and then you don't.
Of all the games this is the one Brees loses his in game psyche for???? Brees has been playing without Payton all season and now he loses his psyche???? Honestly dude this was a head to head matchup that we won fair and square. We had our top 2 corners out of the whole game minus one series and STILL intercepted Brees 5 times. No excuse man...no Brees in game psyche, no missing Payton especially when in the Bounty thread you said it wouldnt be a big deal, refs gave yall plenty of chances to win with bogus calls. Call it like it is man...we didnt play extremely well on offense but don't bruise YOUR chest about it in a losing effort. The Saints were the most desperate team in this game because of playoff hopes. |
