Next years draft
So I've got an hour before I go to work, there isn't much happening today and I'm bored.
With all that said, I know we are 7-0 but how about we look ahead to the draft anyway for shits and giggles? We are more than likely going to be in the 27-32 range for a draft pick. So, who do you guys see dropping down that far that we could actually use and have make an impact? I always expect to see first rounders make an impact, I never expect anything less from them even though it doesn't always happen right away. I wonder the chances Manti Te'o falling to us is. I doubt he does, but that's the guy I want the most really.

He is the rare combo of leadership and skill. This cat is Urlacher meets Lewis, with none of the baggage. I agree I would love to have him but there is no way we get him. At that point C, TE, DE, MLB or CB. I don't know any names really, the others on here are so good at that. |

RE: Next years draft
I posted this in another thread. I think our top 3 are DE, TE, and RB, but in no particular order. Anyone of them could be first or second. I also think we will move up and try to get an early second round pick (meaning a late first, early second, and late second) some how.
My guess is it could be any combination of this, because all of these guys will be going between late first to late second. 1. DE - Demontre Moore - Texas A&M; Dion Jordan - Oregon; Sylvester Williams - North Carolina 2a. TE - Tyler Eifert - Notre Dame; Joseph Fauria - UCLA; Dion Simms - Mich State 2b. RB - Le'Veon Bell - Mich State; Montee Ball - Wisconsin; Eddie Lacy - Alabama Eifert, Ball, and Moore might actually go mid first and be gone before we have any chance at them. If Eifert is gone, I think there a stronger chance we grab a TE first. I'm not sure why you put a Center as a need for us, Jesus. Konz is absolutely our next Center and Hawley is a good backup. I can't see us drafting 3 Centers in a row. Maybe another Guard or LT, but not Center. CB and MLB are likely as well, but not before the top 3 I mentioned. We're good at DT, WR, and OLB for certain. Maybe even Safety too. Maybe even CB as well if McClain and Owens continue to play well. We are also probably good at backup QB now with Davis too, and certainly both kickers. TE, DE, RB, OG, and ILB are really all I can see as need right now, unless some other injury happens. Which is also why I think we make a trade up for an additional second round pick. We have some to spare. |

Not that this has any scientific bearing, nor will it necessarily be true for these kids, but big 10 RB's are historically bad in the pros. Ball should have come out, his 3-5 round draft grade will probably wind up being better than where he will actually go after this season. Hopefully Bell has a better pro career than the last 250 lbs. running back from Michigan State. I would spend a 4th or 5th on Lacy, he should be a solid pro. Wish we could wait for Yeldon. |

RE: Next years draft
There was talk in the press that Konz was too tall to play center in the NFL. He hasn't seen many reps there in preseason or during the regular season. If there is a top guard there then go for it but if a center is there than fill the need. I remember hearing that hawley is still the center if the future.

They'll put Hawley at C, mark my words. Mike Johnson will get promoted to laundry boy.
