National Media Coverage Sucks! (comparing coverage of Denver and Atlanta)
It was amazing to me last night that the national media talked about P. Manning and the Broncos losing close games to the Falcons and Patriots. Saying, 'In both games they came back from behind and if they would have had a little more time could have won'. However, when they talk about the Falcons (WHEN THEY DO) they talk about how we won two very close games and we had to come back from behind in both. Don’t they realize that both team scenarios are the same (except the Falcons did not let the game get in that big of a deficit (like Denver did) AND they actually played within the 60 mins of the game and didn’t ‘need just a little more time’ to pull them out. The Broncos get praise for almost pulling them out and the Falcons are just lucky for actually pulling them out. The national media sucks! I know its Manning and I know Atlanta never gets respect but just had to vent. UGH!
Also, they don't tell you that the 2 'close games' is one team after their bye (Oakland) and a divisional opponent in CAR (which are a hard games in every division of the league). |

UGH! every year every coach at some time or another makes the statement "it's hard to win in the NFL" in his press conference. a LOT of the announcers/pundits who are former coaches or players say the same thing. But then the media turns right around and either doesn't give any credit or discredits completely, teams like the Falcons for winning close games or coming from behind. I'll throw this out there. over the last three weeks, the media darlings Niners beat Buffalo and NYJ by a combined total of 79-3. They blew out 'weak' teams and drew the praise for it. Then they faced the defending CHAMPS and got crushed. so how does blowing out weak teams make a difference when facing a good team???? curious minds want to know. Maybe they just wore themselves out running up and down the field for two games and were just tired when the played the Giants.... Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: National Media Coverage Sucks! (comparing coverage of Denver and Atlanta)
So what?
We played three close games and won those with the time allotted. The Broncos needed "extra time." That makes no sense. Who's to say old Payton wouldn't have thrown another pick. How come their vaunted D couldn't stop Turner one last time. They tied him up all game then on the biggest run of the game, the run everyone knew was coming, they couldn't stop him. No need for excuses. They could not execute enough out there. Neither could we. If we had converted all of those Manning INTs into TD the game never would have been close. |

And when we beat Vick and the Eagles, it will be all about how the Eagles lost.
Its the bigger story man. We could be 10 and 0 and it wouldn't matter.

RE: National Media Coverage Sucks! (comparing coverage of Denver and Atlanta)
Don't worry so much about how the media covers the NFL. The media is a business. It exists to make money. Clearly, it is more profitable to praise other teams. If you want more praise for the Falcons, find a way to make the praise more profitable for the media.
The Falcons have a core of rabid fans. There is no doubt about that. The problem is that the Falcons do not have a large contingent of followers that make a great economic impact. They don't travel with the team, like Green Bay, Jets or Steeler fans. They don't buy merchandise anywhere near as much as Giant, Cowboy or Bronco fans. This explains why the Falcons don't get the "media love" that people on these boards crave. Reality can be a bitch. |

RE: National Media Coverage Sucks! (comparing coverage of Denver and Atlanta)
anybody watching the thursday night pregame on the NFL network? they did a nice little section on the Falcons being the only undefeated team, and went around the table letting each of them name a team that could challenge and be a problem for the Falcons. Irvin said the iggies change at DC means they will, Deion said the only team that can give the Falcons trouble are the Falcons! saying even when not playing good they found a way to win. Marsha Faulk said the Packers, based his thoughts on our playoff loss to them two years ago, they match up with us very well...... what a moron.......Mariucci said the Bears are more suited to give our offense trouble because of their secondary.
Chew on THAT, Petunia!
