Falcons Name Bob Bratkowski QBs Coach

RE: Falcons Name Bob Bratkowski QBs Coach
His time at Miami sells it for me. Regardless, the fact many want to jump on a decision made by our proven front office without reason (or valid reason I should say), trusting their own instinct instead, shows how little of a connect there is between sanity and fandom at times.

We might as well be discussing the choice in detergent the equipment manager uses... not to give anyone ideas.

This is real bad news for Matt Ryan. First, he will take away the short quick passes and have Ryan doing 7 step drops on every pass. His offense is so predictable it isn’t funny. Even though he isn’t calling the plays, Matt Ryans sack total will increase atleast by 50%, mainly because he will have no short passes and will be taught to hold onto the ball until the last second.

So we hired a QB coach to install a new offense and call the plays?

Wow, we're in worse shape than I thought!

I prefer Gain, it has the best combination of price, effectiveness, and pleasent scent.

Gain? GAIN?! Don't make laugh. Just another underpowered soap that can't read stains and is too slow for the NFL. Tide has 10 times the cleaning power and better college experience. Hell, even Woolite has worked in a Div 1 system. TD would really be reaching for another Shippensburg miracle going with Gain.

(sorry, slow day and start to the off-season)

Bratkowski is just a hiring from the good ol' boy network because he knows Mularkey. He will definitely help in gameplanning and be a good fallback should MM leave. I feel he's just being stashed away, which is fine if that's what the coaches feel is best for the longterm continuity of the offense.

Can a guy be a successful coach without having played or coached the position before? Sure. Would I prefer that??? No.

Here's a life lesson for you.

Just because someone can do something at an extremely high level, doesn't mean they would be able to understand everything that went into being so good and be able to be an effective teacher. After all, people that good usually have a lot of things come natural for them to begin with. That being said, just because someone was never able to do something at a high level, doesn't mean they can't completely understand the intricacies and mechanics that go into it, and then be able to pass that knowledge on effectively.

Tom Martinez and Bill O'Brien are very decorated and praised coaches. Brady himself gives a lot of credit to both of them when it comes to his mechanics and quarterbacking skills. Brady still goes out to be coached and maintain/perfect his mechanics with Martinez. Bill Belichick also plays a role in it, and he never threw a football at a professional level either.

So while this is a football message board and you can complain or praise whatever you want, your reaction to this and the reasoning behind it combined with your vitriol comes off as extremely ignorant. I'm not saying Bratkowski is an all world coach, but I fail to see any logical reason to be so down on the guy. Sure, he's never been a QB or coached the position, but Smith had never been a Head Coach before either. Heck, Bill Belichick's first Head Coaching job went pretty bad as well.

Did you know that Bill O Brien never played QB? Just curious. He played LB and DE in college.

Well if I had known you were just going to be childish about it I wouldn't have attempted to engage you in a discussion. If you just want to be pissy for the sake of it, have fun.

RE: Falcons Name Bob Bratkowski QBs Coach
Dang DaMeatTrough - why are you making your huge stand here on the QB coach hire? You are a good member of this board - and while you are free to dislike the move - honestly, this is just not that big of a deal - he's the freaking QB coach. Matt Ryan is good enough to coach himself for the most part - this will be OK and Falcons will be fine whether Bratkowski is any good or not.

I think that Falcons offense needs to be changed up a bit anyway - so anything different - has a better chance of being good than bad in my estimation.

Just agree to disagree DaMeat - and move on from this........let's get into heated discussions about 1st round draft picks and Free Agent pick-ups.......Not QB coaches!
