Falcons Name Bob Bratkowski QBs Coach
Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski has agreed to become the next quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons.

Bratkowski spent ten seasons as the Bengals offensive coordinator before he was fired late last month. The Bengals replaced him with Jay Gruden, who spent seven seasons as an assistant coach under his older brother, ESPN analyst Jon Gruden, in addition to a successful playing and coaching in the Arena Football League.

Bratkowski replaces Bill Musgrave, who left Atlanta to become the Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator.

I don't know if this is a good thing or not. Carson can throw a deep ball right? Carson has some pretty good mechanics as well.

He did before his elbow surgery.

I'm sure he has learned nothing about QB's the past 30 years coaching in the league, and is a terrible hire considering he spent 4 years as a wide out in the mid 70's.

Yeah he did, I find myself cautiously optimistic about our new QB coach. I don't know much about him

Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski has agreed to contract terms to become the Falcons’ new quarterbacks coach under head coach Mike Smith.

Bratkowski spent the past 10 seasons running the Bengals’ offense for head coach Marvin Lewis and had six Pro Bowl players during his tenure.

Bratkowski played wide receiver at Washington State from 1975-77 and has held a slew of offensive coordinator positions during his coaching career, including for the University of Miami during the school’s NCAA championship years of 1989 and 1991, and the Seattle Seahawks prior to taking the position with the Bengals.

The Falcons had been searching for a quarterbacks coach since before the Pro Bowl, when previous quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave was hired as the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive coordinator.

At Seattle in 1997, he was coordinator for the NFL’s top passing offense (247.4 yards per game). The team ranked third in the NFL in total offense. Seattle also established club season records in ’97 for most yards passing (4187) and completions (359). The Seahawks were second in the NFL in first downs (331).

Prior to his 1992 hiring by Seattle, Bratkowski spent 14 years as a college coach, including offensive coordinator assignments at Weber State, Wyoming and Washington State, in addition to Miami.

As a college player, Bratkowski was a three-year letterman as a wide receiver at Washington State. His father, Zeke, played quarterback for 14 seasons in the NFL, seeing action for the Bears, Rams and Packers.

Bratkowski was born Dec. 2, 1955, in San Angelo, Texas. Bob and his wife, Rebecca, have two children — son Shane and daughter Courtney.
