NFC Championship: Atlanta Falcons' Cinderella Story Fueled by Doubters
Not typically a fan of BleacherReport, but this is a great article.
Quote:Earlier this afternoon ESPN radio host Scott Van Pelt added himself to the short list of national media icons that believe the Atlanta Falcons will participate in the Super Bowl in February. The always-explosive conversationalist Stephen A. Smith is also backing them. The Man In Black

RE: NFC Championship: Atlanta Falcons' Cinderella Story Fueled by Doubters
good read Flagg, thanks for posting. Maybe I'm going to have to back off my hatred and self appointed banning of reading B/R articles. who was the writer?
For those who don't know, our own admin Peyton has been known to write some for B/R. And for those who know how good a job he does on researching stats and such, in his posts here, that should tell you He does a good job on his articles there. This looks like someting he could have possibly written, though I don't know if he's written anything for them in a while. Chew on THAT, Petunia!

The writer was Mike Foster, here's his B/R profile. Quote:Greetings. My name is Michael Foster. I'm a 22-year old Journalism and Citizen Media major at Kennesaw State University in the outskirts of northwest Atlanta. I began my sports writing journey at B/R as a contributor in 2010. From there, I went through the B/R writing internship program in 2011 and simultaneously became the sports editor at The Sentinel newspaper, the student run paper on campus. After graduating from the B/R writing academy I wrote as a Falcons Featured Columnist and NFL gameday blogger last Fall. My tenure with B/R has opened avenues to various writing opportunities, including a position covering high school football for the Marietta Daily Journal and Cherokee Tribune. I also am a co-host of a sports talk show at our school's radio station. I'm Atlanta born and raised, love Atlanta sports, am a true Kennesaw State basketball fan and am part of the Atlanta Hawks Kia 6th Man group, which are all of those crazy people you see on TV during the Hawks broadcasts. Of course, as a southerner, my true love is fried food and football. The Georgia Bulldogs own my soul. Aside from journalism, I'm also a graphic designer, typography nerd, sports branding nerd, film and video production enthusiast, and a hopeless 90s-range golfer. A few life goals include visiting all 30 MLB ballparks, pending rebuilding/dismantling, and witnessing the Falcons win a Super Bowl before I die. At just 22, I actually think he might just have a bright future in writing ahead of him. The Man In Black

Why does there need to BE a Story? We win year in and year out in the regular season and are finally making a run in the playoff's. We are undeniably a great team and our team is focused and has no drama.
Sorry if that is to boring to be a STORY, but that's why it is called sports and not Soap Opera Hopefully one day writers like this will make a Story out of ESPN trying to turn pro sports into Pro Wrestling drama to pump up ratings. Good writing. |

If the Falcons and Patriots win it will be a dull 2 weeks until the Superbowl. Not that there isn't any story in Atlanta, but when it comes to sensationalism and publicity this franchise might as well be kryptonite. Its the media's fault though, if they had covered the Falcons a bit more and bought in just a little during the season they wouldn't have set themselves up for a non story in the playoffs. They can't very well go from shitting on us all season to hyping a NFCCG or SB that involves the Falcons. |

Great read, also theres another. I think if Atlanta pulls it off and gets to the Super Bowl and wins it, John Abraham, even though, hes signed till next year. I bet he would retire too. Because that's really the only reason he came back. Hes got money, he wants a ring. Everything else goes out the door. Same way with Tony G, hes got money, he wants a ring to cement his hall of fame.

My immediate guess would be: Gonzalez Abraham McClure Peterson I just don't see any reason those guys would come back if they have a ring. The Man In Black
