Mini Bye Days Off?
Hey I like and still support Mike Smith so I'll preface this with don't want to see him replaced...
I do however question him giving the team those days off after the Jax game... Maybe the players could have used some physical rest but their asses should have been (mandatory) at work studying film and preparing for their biggest divisional opponent! This past weeks game was way too important and I think allowing them the time off set an air of over confidence that should never be allowed! Last week was a playoff game for all intents and purposes and the Falcons could have been playing for the opportunity to host a home game this week! You think Green Bay and San Francisco are or will be taking their Play-off bye week off? Is this what elite teams do? |

RE: Mini Bye Days Off?
Playoff byes are different than regular season byes. Nobody goes on vacation during a playoff bye week.
As for regular season byes, the Falcons are 3-1 under Smitty coming off a break. I doubt him giving his players an extra couple of days off at the end of the season had anything to do with them not performing well in the following game. They still got the same number of practices in last week as any other week. |

RE: Mini Bye Days Off?
So a couple of more days of preparation would not have produced any better results against New Orleans?
My point is simply that the Falcons got their asses handed to them on a National stage and a very important game. A few more days of preparation would have seemed to be in order? Unless the Falcons are what they are... in that case we are probably one and done again. At least if the team that played last week shows up. |

Chew on THAT, Petunia!
