Mike Smith and the defense
I've always wondered how much influence he has over the scheme and is he making any changes during the game?

As most of you, i've been pretty happy with the defense overall this year. That being said, we are still playing a bend don't break defense. Is that the scheme that Smitty wants to run or has it been the personnel that has limited us being more aggressive?

Looking around the league it seems we have as much talent on paper as most of the better defensive teams.

Our linebackers are playing better than average as a whole and our D-line has been good but could obviously be better with pressure on the QB.

We have some interesting decisions to make in the defensive backfield this off season.

For sure Moore and Grimes are here for the long haul, but what do we do about DeCoud? I'm sure Dunta is here for at least 1 more year, do we resign DeCoud or look to Free Agency for a replacement? Also, do we have a nickel on our roster now that we feel comfortable with?

Realistically, what would you do with the Defensive roster if you were TD?

I would like to see us try and run man coverage, i'm sure that will take some more tweaking.

TBH this is what he ran as DC for the Jags.

RE: Mike Smith and the defense
Our defense, we need to keep looking for more CB depth, and keep adding defensive ends like we're desperate for them.

Already made a desperation move this offseason and he hasn't done as well as I would have thought.

No, I mean just stockpile them constantly. I have a preference for the NYG philosophy about the defensive line. I wouldn't care if Abe, Edwards, Sidbury, and Biermann had 10 sacks already, keep adding them on. Never can have enough of them. If you can't pressure with your front four, you aren't stopping guys like Rodgers, Brady, or Brees.

We have the same philosophy then. I just don't like desperation moves. Like what's wrong with BPA in the draft then getting guys for need positions in the FA?

Great in run stopping even after knee surgery. He may need this year to recover and get healthy in the offseason.

The same way that he's playing right now is basically what he gave us in Minnesota.
