RE: Michael Turner Groin
I remember a three headed rushing monster named DVD for the Falcons years ago. Too bad one of those D's only had 2 good years and the V became a felon.

The Saints carried it to the next level sharing the duties among three RB's. It saves wear and tear and keeps them all fresh for both the game and the season. The problem is that it takes a special player to buy into the scheme. You cannot pull it off with a prima donna type. Of course the 'primary back philosophy' is the exception to the running back by committee rule. The original 'Thunder and Lightning' combo was powerback Cain and scatback Abel who played for the Eden Vipers. Maybe someday the Saints may find a back that gets stronger as the game goes on and makes linebackers try to hide from him in crunch time, but you cannot have ours. Don't worry about MT's age. He sat on the bench behind LT for years. He will punish the Saints for years to come. Think Jerome Bettis. |

I like Judge Snells, really i do, but i don't think he's a permanent replacement for turner. I said this last year when somewas screaming out resign Snells and cut Turner.... I never understood that.. Turner is a probowl RB... The guy looks faster this year then he looked last year. With Snells... I think our fans over-value the guy... He is a good backup... He can is very versatile but the guy is not a lead back... I'm not talking about shining 1 or 2 games.. I'm talking about consistently week after week producing... 300+ carries at the end of the year... His value to the league was shown last season... They look at him like every other backup RB.. ![]()

A running attack will wear down a defense. The fact is that a lone RB gets weaker, just like every other player, as the game goes on. If the defense slows at a faster rate than the RB it appears the RB is getting stronger. Relatively speaking his is, but in actuality he isn't. But, in a runningback by committee situation the RB's remain fresher throughout the game while the defense slows. The Saints RB's have been tearing it up in the 4th quarter. They are averaging 4.8 yards per carry. That's tied for 4th in the league. The Falcons are tied for 20th at 4.0 ypc. Turner is averaging 4.3 which is tied for 27th in the league for RB's with 50 or more carries. He has carried the ball 219 times which is second to only Jones-Drew's 230. I wouldn't count on him being around for several more years at this rate. Saints Fan Since 1967

The 4th quarter always comes down to how many smelling salts are in play.

RE: Michael Turner Groin
This would be a huge issue IF the coaching staff had made comments about it. They have not, therefore I take it as simply Turner being sore and needing a bit of a rest/rehab/trainer week.
Right now we have two very capable backups in Snelling and Quizz. Snelling has proven that he can perform as the number one back in our offense. Quizz has also made great strides, as a rookie, in showing he is a dangerous weapon out of the backfield. I am not worried about our running game falling off too much. If it gets to the point where Turner is questionable for the game this week, then it is time to wonder about how we will do. Until then, this is just some over zealous reporter trying to mke a story out of nothing. |

You are right of course but I was actually making an obscure reference to back in 2005 or 6 where Jim Mora in one his douchiest moments was visibly snorting smelling salts on the sideline. |

They will leave quicker. |
