Matt Ryan's Pocketawareness & Elusiveness
Here's some stats that show out good he's been this year in that department.

Last season Ryan had 84 yards rushing on 37 attempts for an average 2.3 ypc and both of his touchdowns were QB sneaks. This year he already has 85 yards rushing on just 18 carries (4.7 ypc) and his 1 touchdown was legit scramble touchdown.

Ryan's best season rushing was in 2010 when he had 122 yards on 46 carries for a 2.7 ypc. Ryan should get around 200 yards rushing this season at the rate he's going. He's already had 4 games this season with more than 15 yards on the ground. He had only 8 such games in his career coming into this season.

RE: Matt Ryan's Pocketawareness & Elusiveness
How good has Matt Ryan been?

The only QB in the NFL with a higher completion percentage than Ryan is Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is at 69.0% and Ryan is 2nd at 68.7%.

Also usually completions and attempts go hand and hand. Usually if your pretty high up on the completions list it's because you're pretty high up on the attempts list. But get this while Ryan is 7th in pass completions he's only 13th in pass attempts. That's a huge difference. Andrew Luck has the 7th most pass attempts in the NFL at 288. Ryan has 265 attempts. So that's a 23 pass attempt difference from 7th to 13th. That's pretty much a whole game worth of passes for most QBs.

Ryan has more completions on less attempts than Ben Roethlisberger, Brandon Weeden, Carson Palmer, Andrew Luck, Michael Vick and Mark Sanchez.

Ryan has the 3rd highest passer rating at 103.0. Peyton is 1st at 109.0 and Rodgers is 107.9. Speaking of Peyton he has thrown just 4 interceptions this season, 3 in that first half against the Falcons. Ryan is tied with Peyton for the 3rd most TD passes in the NFL behind Rodgers 21 and Brees 20.

Ryan is averaging 288 yards per game with is tied with Eli Manning for 6th in the NFL.

Ryan is averaging 7.62 yards per attempt which is 6th best in the NFL.

RE: Matt Ryan's Pocketawareness & Elusiveness
Ryan has been doing the slide and step up in the pocket much better this year. Even though alot of people see elusiveness as the ability to scramble I like that he can move within the pocket to be elusive. He seems to be more aware than last year of just where the pressure is coming from. While he wont convince anyone he is a scrambling QB he makes positive yards and is avoiding more sacks when the pocket does completely breakdown.

I completely agree. There have been so many plays this season when he's just avoided a defender in the pocket and then threw a strike somewhere. It's been beautiful to watch.

RE: Matt Ryan's Pocketawareness & Elusiveness
Peyton Manning is a statue but in his prime he was one of the most "elusive" QB's in the league. Scrambling and moving around the pocket are two different things. Ryan has been moving around the pocket well this season. The ability to step up in the pocket and make the throw is what makes elite QB's.

I think Brady is probably the best at moving in the pocket and avoiding defenders, he's the only guy I know that a DT could have wrapped up and him just bend over and duck it out of trouble.

Matt is definitely getting there.

I think Brees is better

Brees has to move up because of his height, and his inability to see over the line. He often steps up to get peeks of daylight and windows to throw, not so much to avoid pressure alone.

For me although I think Matt will soon be the best. The best pocket movers are Brady and Eli. I would consider big Ben also but whilst he is his own linemen. He isn't as efficient in making people pay for missing bringing him down.

What about Aaron Rodgers? I hate to say it but he killed us the last time we played mostly from the pocket how many missed tackles on him did we have. Of course he can straight up break the pocket and run to. HATE that guy
