There are many ways to lose a game, from my point of view, this game was lost because of poor decisions during the game and poor preparation prior to the game. |

RE: MM shits the bed in OT
Seriously, this loss, doesn't burn in my gut, this is how our rivalries go with the saints. To the wire. People are throwing lambs to the slaughter and having their inquisitions, but we have had worse wins than this loss. Sometimes I wonder how many people really know and understand football. It is not a known quantity nor a defined art. It ebbs and flows. It's a joke that people have talked of us trading Roddy, its a joke that people have called for MM to go mid season. It's like some think it is Madden. This game had lows and highs for both teams, the expectation is high and the disappointment brings one down. All understandable, but seriously I prefer the logical assessments made about the game than the usual bullshit.
The call to go for it was a risk, but based on how NO had failed to stuff our run that severely all game. We needed inches, it was not beyond our offense. However I don't deplore people for disagreeing with the call. For reasons such as field position. This was a good game of football. We came out on the losing end but we saw so much good in our young team. The building must continue. |

RE: MM shits the bed in OT
i was begging for him to run turner on a draw. we had to have thrown like 15-20 straight passes heading into OT & including the first OT drive.
the saints could only stop the run on obvious run downs.

When graham scored that was a blown play. Lack of execution. This team was prepared. There was always for the most part a red hat near NO receivers. We weren't gashed by the 3 headed monster of their ground game. We passed on them we ran on them. We were not shredded by their pass game by yac. For the most part bar blown plays the team was in position to make a play on the ball, or bring the receiver down quickly. This game was lost due to errors, and ultimately by us trying our luck on 4th down one time too many, and at the wrong time. |

RE: MM shits the bed in OT
i'm kind of mad we didn't run the ball once in OT until that 4th down play...I understand we were killing them at the end of the 4th through the air but we have Michael Turner in our backfield. we're built around him, he had a good game with 20 touches. just blew my world we didn't try him once...

Our D performed very well, except of course the lack of pressure (although I felt there was pressure on most plays -- Brees just got rid of the ball very quickly). We even defended the screen pass perfectly!! It came down to drops (many of them). But it's hard to argue that there were some terrible calls by MM. Not running in OT was just weird. Also, if you're not confident enough with your OL to get 2-3 inches on a sneak why would you run inside on such crucial play? If you wanna get gutsy, don't do it half way. |
