There isn't any difference in blocking in a short yardage situation like that and on a QB sneak in the same situation. Both situations calls for the wedge, where the entire line collapses inwards and powers forward right off the snap, not even worrying about getting to the second level. No matter how you cut it, the offensive line just failed there. Their line just raped our offensive line backwards instantly, so we lost. |

What were we trying to do that hasn't been "straight football," that's been an attempt to be "sensational." I'm not buying it, especially when on a 4th and inches we went for the most bread and butter play in football, a straight goal-line styled dive up the A gap. |

RE: MM shits the bed in OT
The weird thing is, this has happened in other overtimes. They take deep shots in OT on 2nd and short...which I don't get. I really like this play in the regulation, when it's about scoring 7's and keeping defenses honest. OT is more about accumulating first downs...because 4 or 5 first downs wins (you're in FG range.) It also tilts the field, which is important.
So, basically, 2nd and 2...just pick up that first. I'm usually the biggest fan of taking shots, but OT is a different animal. I have no problem going for it in OT, but would have done the QB sneak. It hits much quicker, and the QB only has to find a tiny spot to slither through, whereas handing to the deep back lets the DL get deep penetration. Our OL really got manhandled on that play, but the sneak is still the better call. The reality is, in OT we should be more balanced. The other reality is, the Falcs should have won it at the end of the 4th quarter, when they had 2 shots at the end zone from the 20, and 2 more from the 10. |

I fucking hate being emotionally invested in this team when we have games like this.
So much shit went wrong and we still almost won. In the end, it's the team that lost, from coaching down to the players. Although I do fucking hate MM's play calling in OT. But that would have been moot if so much other shit didn't go wrong earlier in the game to put us in OT. |

I wouldn't be bitching if this was the Harrington led Falcons of 2007. If we had a 5- 4 record, hell yea. HOWEVER, this is year four of a team that gave us the impression we were among the elite of the NFC. Pifffff! Man please. TO whom much is given, much is expected. You dont go 13 - 3 and then play like we've been playing.

RE: MM shits the bed in OT
There were so many things that we did wrong, yet we still had a chance to win it at the end of the 4th.
I am actually thinking positively with this loss. Yes, we lost but our D looks REALLY GOOD (minus lack of pass rush), and our O (when clicking) can move the ball willfully on anyone. Everyone made a mistake this game. Some more than others, but from the coaching down, everyone had their part. As a side note, our O line pass protection is looking really good without Baker

We probably should have ran to the outside. Remember the loss to Pittsburgh? Would have looked the same way except we would have been on the winning end.

I agree, we held the saints back points wise, and I think what made everybody so mad, we should have won, we were the better team that day. That come back was awsome, but we blew it in the end and the saints won the day. But it wasn't just one person. we made mistakes all over, to players to coaches. Just think if Bryant hadn't whiffed on that FG (Mr. Money finally failed and talk about a bad time)? There are so many things its not funny, Saints got them too.
