The ony other thing I could think is similar to how Pete was here to straddle depth and starting whilst mentoring Spoon and to an extent Nicholas. TaTupu is here to play a similar role in starting and bringing on Dent and whom so ever else we may play at that spot. We want a cover middle linebacker TaTupu showed that the analysis on him being slow was wrong. He made plays in the passing game because like how LoftOn naturally diagnoses the run TaTupu does so with passing. Not perhaps to an elite level but definitely an upgrade for what Nolan wants.

Does anyone think Adkins can play ILB?

Tatupu has had a bettter career than Lofton but his health is a major concern. He has had knee surgeries as well as a pectoral tear. Having said that, he will be an upgrade on passing downs. Tatupu is athletic but what sets him apart is his knowledge of the game. For that reason, he should be a great player that can act as a "coach" to the other LB's. With this move, I expect us to draft another LB this season.

ok i know it wasn't major surgery, but didn't lofton have both his knees worked on a little bit last year in offseason? i agree that if we let CL walk, we draft another LB this year, i still don't think like someone's mock it will be our first pick in the draft, but i think we will

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

I think we will see a lot of Dent this year on running downs. Tatupu had pretty much a whole year to heal and get himself ready. I expect us to draft an MLB next year to groom.

To keep with the theme, Welcome to Atlanta
(Yes, this time the player pictured in Hawaii is actually there for the Pro Bowl )

Its sure looking like that, also Thats Loftons dirty little secret hes great on the first 2 downs but blows on the 3rd. We need a 3 down ILB plus having a samoan and a leader on the defense that has plenty of experience, he should be able to get the defense in better position then lofton did. How much Lofton wants is not hes worth. Not being able to cover on 3rd downs. Loftton will probably find a team stupid enough to pay the money but they will find that too. I bet he goes to a team that runs the 3-4. Confused

I like the Totupa move, hes always been a great linebacker.

Interesting to say the least. The perception though that Lofton is useless in passing situations is false.

A 3 4 team could cover his pass coverage deficiency by sending him into the shallows or blitzing him. But asking him to hold down that deeper middle zone is not his strong suit.
