James Sanders Profile

Former New England Patriots safety James Sanders has joined the Arizona Cardinals.

He made the announcement via his Twitter account: "glad to be on the squad. Looking forward to winning games with AZ." Sanders, 28, played for the Atlanta Falcons last season, starting six games and recording 41 tackles with three pass deflections.
He played his previous six seasons with the Patriots.
Sanders is a 5-foot-10, 210-pound former Fresno State player who has 342 career tackles, eight interceptions, two touchdowns and two forced fumbles.

Well, this makes us REALLY thin at safety. Unless we pick someone up in FA, I'm almost certain we draft a safety. Probably somewhere after our 2nd pick though. I still think OL and TE are our priorities.

If the Nolan wanted to keep Sanders they would have. Just like Lofton.

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

I wonder if we will go after Tru Johnon. He is a hybrid player. I was reading yesterday how Nolan likes to operate the Big Nickel a lot. A player like Johnson provides us with solid Safety Depth but additionally gives us early on a strong slot corner who can blitz cover and plays physical against the run.

That being said I think our Slot Corner battle will be between Franks Owens and potentially even Walls. If we wanted to go big without investing a pick in a player. Dunta could drop inside and one of those other corners could take the perimeter cover duties in that particular package. This would still leave us looking for a safety though and in this instance I would then say a vet back up would be best to pair up with Shan. Tru is a very likely pick at where we are positioned if he lasts that long he is a very talented player who hasn't tapped all of his potential but still plays fantastic. You watch the tape and you see a lot of things to like. There are things missing but to be positioned as high as he is in the draft against prospects from bigger schools is a good indication of his ability. Remember TD does like his Montana players that being said I don't think he has taken one as high as this though. I don't think Tru can make it to our pick in the 3rd round. I also feel that we only have one dubious O line spot and that is at left tackle. I feel that we are better off waiting until next year when we have our 1st and the ability to move up further to grab a left tackle if we need it. Svitek sured his side up to keep Matt a lot cleaner. A stronger middle pocket or a more consistent middle pocket is really needed.

Beef, why you always saying TE? We know Gonzo is getting old, but he isn't going anywhere this year. A drafted TE this year would make zero difference.

Cha cha changes, that old David Bowie song, I agree, I liked Sanders, and Hayden, but if Nolan wanted us to keep him we would have. Wink

I also look at depth and we have none. Reggie Kelly is a FA and I just don't see us re-signing him. If we do, i'll change my picks. And are we really going into the season with Gonzo, Palmer, and Winterswyk?

I don't know. I don't like any of the TE's in this draft besides Fleener and maybe Egnew. But that's it. So if we don't get one this year, i'm fine with that.

OL is still the priority with CB and Safety needing more depth badly. And then a pass rushing specialist either from DE or LB is somewhere in there, IMO.

I don't really think TE is a huge priority either, But a good argument for taking one this year as opposed till after Tony retires, is of course they would have a year of sitting in meeting rooms with the most prolific tight end in NFL history.

RE: James Sanders joins the Cardinals
I think we can get that Egnew kid in the 3rd round. They guy is 6'5 250 and runs a 4.5-4.6 40 and lead all of college football in receptions for a TE. Fleener, Allen, and Charles are all ranked ahead of him simply because they had more TD's. So there's a good chance we land a really good receiving TE to learn from TG for a year, is all I'm saying.

The guys that I like for our 55th pick are DE Jared Crick, DE/OLB Bruce Irvin, CB Janoris Jenkins, OG Kelechi Osemele, FS Markelle Martin, OC Ben Jones, and OLT Zebrie Sanders. Any one of them I would be happy with.

For our pick at 84th, I like TE Michael Egnew, CB Coryell Judie, OLT Brandon Mosley, CB Brandon Boykin, CB Trumaine Johnson, DE Vinny Curry, and even DT Brandon Thompson. If we end up with any of these guys I'll be happy too.
