Is It Wrong...
I'm on the train home and there is a guy sitting in front of me wearing a Saints jacket and I hate him.
He might be a perfectly fine person but damn... |

Anytime I see anything Falcon related in public I have the same reaction. Although, to be honest, that reaction intensified when Vick became a Falcon and people who had never even had passing interest in football began wearing his jersey. Saints Fan Since 1967

RE: Is It Wrong...
i was at a 85 exit, i saw this homeless guy, standing there asking for some change. Being a nice guy that i am, i quickly grabbed some change from my car's change holder and was ready to give it to him. As i get closer i saw he had on a Saints hat, i threw the change back into the holder and told myself " He would get a lot more money if he get off that stupid hat"
Am i wrong for that?

I guess the same way the Saints became a hot commodity after Hurricane Katrina. I'm pretty sure each team in some way has gained some fans thru some alternative way. |

They really became a bigger commodity nationally when Brees and Payton came on board along with Reggie Bush in 2006. While the storm did bring attention to the region, it was the Saints prolific offense and the run to the NFC Championship game that earned most of the fans from other areas of the country. People love winners and the Saints were proving to be very viable winners. The Super Bowl win in 2009 brought another wave of new fans on board nationally. Saints Fan Since 1967

No offense but I can tell you from exoerience that there were absolutely ZERO Saints fans where I live here in Charleston, SC. Either that or they were hiding even with the prolific offense, but when Katrina hit combined with the team having a lil success then they came out the woodworks. This was actually during the season prior to actually winning the Super Bowl. |

Believe me, had the Saints sucked for these six years since Katrina hit and Reggie Bush had gone elsewhere you wouldn't being seeing very many fleur de lis outside the states of Louisiana and Mississippi these days. The fact that the Saints entered the 2011 season with more victories since 2005 than any other team in the NFL definitely had more impact on the influx of new fans than did the storm. People (bandwagon fans) love winners far more than a sob story. I know some feel the success was tied to some supernatural forces or the NFL's mafia-like underworld manipulating everything from penalties to weather to other team's injuries all because a perfectly natural disaster happened to hit near New Orleans causing levees poorly maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers to breach. In a way they may be right. Those supernatural forces are named Sean Payton and Drew Brees.
