We have two new coordinators and a learning curve to come. I don't see us instantly the best because of Mario.

I think people keep forgetting that our defense wasn't a huge issue last year. It wasn't elite, but it did enough in the play-offs to give our offense more than enough chances to win. Mario Williams isn't really addressing our biggest issue. Our problem is on the offensive line, RG and LT to be more specific. We could probably stand to upgrade our CB depth as well. If we were going to grab some blue chip FA, I'd rather have Nicks than Williams. Swapping Abe for Williams honestly isn't going to improve our pass rush. Abe has consistently been a better pass rusher than him for a few years running now. The only thing Williams has going for him over Abe is his age.

Green bay still has arod. Saints still have brees for now. Giants are defending champs. Eagles and panthers may rebound next year.

I'm thinking that we could go over that young fella from Tennessee. Not an elite Rusher but he is a solid developing piece and in a Mike Nolan system along with Sidbury Matthews Biermann and Edwards. I have been thinking if we added him and another DT. Would that be so bad if it meant we could bring on other pieces on the o line.

RE: If we sign Mario, are we the team to beat in the NFC?
Some good points are being made. If I had to say why we did not make it to the SB, I would break it down to two points:

1. A lousy pass defense. We didn't put enough pressure on QB's and we could not cover the middle of the field.

2. Our offensive line was suspect. The bulk of the blame rests on the interior OL.

TD has added a MLB that can cover well and he will probably draft another one to develop. Additionally, he signed an experienced OG to either take the RG or show the youngsters some competition.

We will lose Abraham, but we have a young athlethic guy who's time has come. Sidbury has to use his considerable gifts and become the pass rusher he is supposed to be. He would be aided by an improved interior pass rush. With that in mind, I'd like to add a DT that is as quick a pass rusher as Babs. I think that Jason Jones is that kind of player.

Whether we add Mario or not, we need an interior DT that can crush the pocket from within. Without one, even the best RDE in the land will find himself chasing QB's like clown.......once again.

I really think my Saints will take the division again. I doubt the 49ers will luck up on all of those close games again. The Saints will still be the team to beat.
