RE: If Falcons retained draft picks - AJC
Imagine if the Falcons had kept those picks they would still have 2 players they couldn't sign because of the lock out.

What #1's could we pick this year and next year in the 27+ range that would benefit us as much as Julio?
Julio is worth two #1's IMO.

My only beef is that we could have made this move sooner for a proven star at a much cheaper price, but oh well I'll take it. I don't see how those picks would have helped us much just by themselves, especially since the team is in "win now" mode.

One thing that TD has been saying a lot about the trade to get Julio is that it is also a sustainability move. Roddy and Jenkins are 29 and 28 respectively and in four or five years when Roddy is slowing down Julio will be hitting his prime, that way we won't have a huge drop off in talent.

For example: if we traded for Fitzy he would be 32 in five years and Roddy would be 34, we presumably wouldn't have a star WR at that point.
